Teen Gothic

I'm in the wars this week. Bleeding money with unexpected bills. Taxi today proved why we use Uber usually (thanks NDIS for the cabcharge funding for my daughter but we use Uber for a reason and it isn't price related) but since we have a resource we should use it in spite of the awful service, long wait times and general inconvenience. And that is if they don't just ignore you if you happen to be a short trip/low fare (had that happen before). But when you are moving a wheelchair about Uber is a bit random on if you will get a car that can fit it in the boot (trunk for the yanks out there).

On top of that my knee and shoulder were playing up earlier from pushing my daughter in the wheelchair around the disability expo yesterday. And just as they stop hurting a toothache steps in to keep the fun going. So there will be no witty talk this time as it is taking all my effort just to keep from screaming.

On the plus side I did score some neat swag yesterday featuring 76 pens. Added to the ones I have from the previous 3 disability expos from last year that makes a little over 350 I have in a bag now. That should mean I will not have to buy any pens for a long, long time.

I could [red lorry yellow lorry song] as we are heading into a heatwave again and will wish we were in a [die laughing song]. But that will only make you [screams for tina song] and make you want [ghost of lemora song] to come sooner. Really puts me between [sisters of mercy song] that I can't avoid.

Maybe we should seek [the mission song] to a [siouxsie song] where we will be greeted by people putting [cocteau twins album] on us. Should be stress free with no [suspiria EP] at all. [romeo void song]!

Yeah, yeah I'm over 4 hours late. I needed to sleep and my neck hurts. It's called getting older.

Though most of the time each week this sits with no comments for a few hours anyway. So what's the bet one of the few times I am late people wanted to comment sooner?

I could auto-post like that bright and cheery Soothing Sundays but where's the fun in that?

People are more than how goth they are. None of us goth and never not goth. We all have outside interests. Though some of those outside interests might be questionable.

I have one such interest. Many years ago I used to DJ at an event called Neko Nation. The gimmick was Catgirls/Catboys handing out sushi. I was a troll DJ who took the piss out of the crowd and played music based on internet culture and memes. But I DJed under the name DJ Jelly so people knew what to expect.

We are getting the band back together after 5-6 years since the last event. Except now I am DJ J3LLY (due to a DJ Jelly who plays hip hop in the states) and the new event is called…

…wait for it…

Egirl Nexus.

Yes, an event for egirls and eboys! I didn't name it, it wasn't my idea but here I am helping to organise and DJ at it. This time the gimmick is egirls/eboys handing out Doritos and Mountain Dew. It is almost a celebration of everything cringy about the internet. And I'm going to make 'em dance to my tune and laugh like a maniac while doing it!

Hell… I used to DJ for pastel and nu goths through various geeky events. And I sure wasn't playing goth music at the time…

I floated the idea of turning up as Elitist Joe, announcing "You egirls and eboys have been dodging goth music long enough!" and playing a set of goth music. Other event organisers think it is hilarious and we may try it at some point.

The hills are on fire and we have had a prolonged wave of hell. Today was a slight reprieve only to be thrust back into the furnace again tomorrow. It's just another Summer in Australia. Where the weather tries to kill you when the local wildlife can't be bothered. Ironically there was flooding in the riverland a week ago too. Oh joy, mouse plagues mean well-fed multiplying snakes…

There is a throwaway account post that was caught by the filter (I am half tempted to quote it in here, certainly the right place for it) and I see a regular poster is keen so let's do this. No frills, just fumes.

Midnight. Two lone figures face each other at a distance under the full moon. Poised for what is to come.

A voice calls out…"Draw!"

The figures rush to scribble on paper and one shouts out "Done!"

A black-clad shadow approaches to examine the drawing. A wobbly circle with some squares and lines inside.

"This is the worst I have ever seen. Your shot is a miss."

As they finish the other figure approaches with their drawing. The circle is perfect, the lines crisp and nothing is out of place.

"This is the best freehand Bauhaus logo I have ever seen. You have won the duel. May Bela's belltower watch over you. The goth points are yours!"

The Mariah Carey Xmas music is in full swing and thus inescapable. The spamming of photos of depressed looking black-clad people with mall santas online can only add to this season of woe. Ha haha, its sooooo funny! The irony! We look sad but we are making a joke! Look at it! LOOOOOOK! We're being funny and you never expected it! Ho ho ho! Ha bumbug!
