Can I introduce you to the Human League’s 1979 Reproduction & Travelogue Albums. Cold minimalism combined with Oakley’s hopelessly amateur singing & cynicism. While HL still had shock value with Heart Like Wheel or The Lebanon, they’re a near entirely different band post Travelogue.

Underrated goth band

I literally have zero clue where I first heard a song from them, but I found an extremely underrated 2000s goth band from Sweden. Their name is Moulin Noir and the first song I heard from them was “Spellbound” but my personal favorite is “Maria Calling.” They’re heavily underrated (they have under 500 monthly listeners on Spotify) and I’d appreciate it if you gave them a try. Their music somewhat reminds me of She wants Revenge.

what’s a popular goth band you haven’t been able to get into?

personally lebanon hanover, ghost dance, and the march violets haven't clicked for me the same way as other bands. not to say i necessarily dislike them, i have some of their stuff in my main goth playlist, but they aren't really bands i put on deliberately

how small a band should be to be considered “underground”?

I recently started listening to a few bands with 1k-5k monthly and it made me wonder what counts as "underground" goth bands.

in another scene I'm part of, bands with 15k are considered kinda big (not really, but still not underground), but goth music has more listeners.

around where does a band start being considered "underground"? it's obviously not a specific point, but just an approximation.

Graveyard Whispers – Feel The Wrath (‘90s Goth Parody band from San Diego)

Just got a copy of this tape from the singer of Cattle Decapitation who joined this band toward the end and mostly added sampler stuff. It was a side band of a kinda proggy San Diego band called Upsilon Acrux. Trying to figure out how to upload the music. Anybody else got this?

I just discovered the band “Inkubus Sukkubus”. Any recommendations for other bands like them?

The title says it all, but to be more specific, I'm looking for more music with more mysticism in their lyrics and a sound that's a lot fuller.

What’s your fave newer/active goth rock band?

I'm looking for new music to add to my late autumnal, Party for the Dead playlist.

Thank you!

(I would link the playlist but I'm not allowed to)
