Teen Gothic

I don't want to discourage them from coming, but I also want them to understand what the goth subculture is about. The community has substance and its own identity that has gotten very muddled. I just would like some advice for others who have started their own goth night in their area.

My friends are putting on a goth night and want me to DJ it.

I'm really well-versed in darkwave, post-punk, gothic rock, and pretty much goth-adjacent genre you could think of, but I haven't attended that many goth night events and I haven't been submerged in the subculture itself for years.

I want to play a mix of traditional stuff with some coldwave and EBM thrown in (my mix so far has everything from Strawberry Switchblade and The Cure to Boy Harsher and Traitrs), but I also want to make sure I don't play anything tired or passe.

Just for context, I live in a mid-sized city and these events my friends have been putting on are the only thing of this nature we have out here but lots of people have been attending so we're expecting the bar and patio to be full.

Looking for general advice, whether it be songs I have to play/should avoid playing or just general goth night etiquette. If anyone wants to see the playlist I'll be pulling songs from, I can DM a link as well.
