goth scene in Korea

Hi! Please tell me if I should post this in r/korea instead and I'll delete this post right away 🙂
I was wondering if anyone knew of goth clubs (or clubs that play goth music) in Korea, Seoul in particular. And if anyone went to any of those places, I would really appreciate if you could tell me your experience. Thank you!

Late ’90s-2000s darkwave: a lost era in Goth scene history?

I got into the Goth scene in the mid-2000s, and my first exposure came in the form of artists on the Dancing Ferret label – The Cruxshadows, Ego Likeness, ThouShaltNot, and The Last Dance were the sacred standbys of my peer group who were first discovering the Dark Arts, so to speak. The Where's Neil When You Need Him? tribute album is perhaps the most representative sample of the scene and era.

I notice however that this period and this section of the Goth music kingdom is ignored by Goth historians: Lol Tolhurst ignores it in his recent Goth: A History, jumping between '90s Depeche Mode and 2010s-2020s post-punk revival.

Goth Music: From Sound to Subculture by Elferen and Weinstock mostly focuses on Industrial and Death Rock, and largely acts under the assumption that this era and corner of the Goth scene never existed.

Would it be inaccurate to say that these artists, neglected by historians of Goth music/subculture, constitute the Goth scene's lost years?

How has becoming a parent affected your lifestyle and relationship with the goth scene?

I'm in my 20's, still very much a babybat, and trying to learn about the history and scene today.

For the Goths who are now parents, how did that life event change or affect you? I guess if I am being honest, I'm more primarily interested in the perspective of 90's Goths, but if you're not, please still do share.

If you're an adult, but don't have kids or never plan to have kids, are you able to share what it's been like to see if your siblings, friends, and other people around your age having kids?

I feel particularly inspired by people who continue the lifestyle in parenthood, and share their connections to scenes. I once met a woman who was running a theater store, and she actually told me she used to be a Goth girl, and would join Goth clubs or Industrial clubs in Los Angeles. But now that she's a parent, she no longer visits the clubs or sports the iconic wardrobe.

Goth scene in Pennsylvania?

I live in Adams County and I feel like I'm the only goth person I ever see in this area lol. I know there's a decently sized scene in Philly, but there's multiple reasons why I can't really go there unless someone goes with me. (protective parents and no car yayyyy)

Goth scene in Montreal

Hihi I semi-recently moved to Montreal and I’ve been to a few goth (particularly 80’s throwback events) but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of events or clubs or bars :))

is the goth scene in your area mainly populated by older people too?

This is what I observed from a year of going to goth clubs in the capital of germany. The age average is 40 mainly. I am in my 20s and I rarely see young people. I guess it makes sense bc people in their 40s and over were teenagers when the goth subculture was at its peak. These days not so much. Or maybe the young goths dont go to clubs and participate in the online scene instead?

Experiences introducing non-goths to the scene?

I would love to see how others reacted when you introduced your friends and families to our scene of music. I’ve been lucky enough to have people in my life who are open minded to new experiences even if it’s outside of the comfort zone. I’ve invited my people, including my parents, to clubs, shows and other alternative/goth ventures. Lots of them really enjoyed the experiences and have come back for more, started listening to some of the bands. Some of the things they have said are along the lines of “I thought y’all listened to screaming music” and “I didn’t know goths like to get down” lol it’s always a good time to share our subculture with those who are only aware of it through it’s often faux representation in forms of media.

Moving to the Seattle Area – Looking for the Goth Scene

Basically what the title says, I'm moving to Washington state and I was looking for any concerts/venues/etc. in the Tacoma/Seattle areas to keep track of when I head over there. Bonus points if they're openly LGBT friendly!
