What kind of person was Sylvia?

This song makes me feel something, it really is like a verbal expression of death, acceptance and accepting one's end with all innocence and only then can one's corpse find peace…

If we were to embark on a journey into Sylvia's inner world as described here, what would we encounter, and what would it resemble?

Top 5 new goth bands for my student mag

Thought I'd share some new bands I've been listening to, maybe not everyone has heard of them as yet?

Here's my current Top 5 what I've been listening to and reviewing for my uni magazine and blog (student writer here). All worth checking out as I'd say they're keeping goth going by doing it outside of the box and stepping away from the standard Siousxie, Cure and Sisters sound that other bands try to imitate.

01) First up is Vandal Moon. Queen of the Night I love their sleek sound and how synthy their tracks are, makes me wonder what the 80s was really like, but without it being too nostalgic. https://vandalmoon.bandcamp.com/album/queen-of-the-night

2) Next up is Panic Priest Self Control I think it's a cover version of an old song, but I really love it. Has a lot of drive and I think it takes the goth sound in a different kind of direction. https://panicpriestngp.bandcamp.com/track/self-control-single

3) Number 3 is Visual Symphonia Fire + Rain Love this album because every song is so different and not like anything else. Lots of electric guitars and synths but real drums and exotic instruments too. The lead singer sounds different on every song without relying on effects. And it's really dark and dancey. Phantasm is just phenomenal! https://visualsymphonia.bandcamp.com/album/fire-rain

4) X Ray Cat Trio Live at the Jenny Good dose of rockabilly from these Leeds rockers. Love how they're keeping this undead genre alive, fave track on there is In the Mausoleum. Well worth checking out. https://xraycattrio.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-the-jenny

5) Devil and the Universe Ides of March Last but not least, I love them because they kinda take the sound of Dead Can Dance and elevate it, but without the kind of distinctive vocals Lisa Gerrard has. It's dark, and maybe not for everyone, but fits my mood sometimes.

Advice on a funeral

Hi, my brother passed away today after a short battle with cancer. When he was younger, he was a goth and did all things as part of that culture. He wore the black clothes, the makeup, etc.

I’m helping my sister-in-law plan his funeral and I would love some advice on what kind of music he might have been into back then; this would have been in UK, circa late 80’s, early 90’s. I can’t remember any bands he listened to and I wish I’d had the chance to ask him before it was too late.

Thanks you guys for the Xmal Deutschland recommendation, starting on album 1 & so far this shit slaps!

Ik I’m still stuck in the 80’s, sorry I can’t help it! After this I’ll give Twin Tribes a listen to checkout some more modern goth music.
