Advice on learning how to sing in a more “gothic” voice (I guess)

I really like how Sean Brennan sings. It’s androgynous.

I don’t know much about singing but I think I’m like a baritone or something but I can’t really get my voice that low or that high.

Edit: also sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m stupid and therefore must act such

Goth fashion becoming more popular but I find it slightly annoying

Because they call themselves goth and alternative but the only thing alt about them is their wardrobe. Many of these people cant even name a band or artist. And here I am who doesnt dress the part, plus being a guy they almost dont believe me when I say I like mostly goth & darkwave music. Oh well..

What misconceptions about the goth community would you like to see discussed more often?

Hello. I'm doing an assignment for school about misconceptions or stereotypes about the goth community and how they affect us as a community. I would like to see what misconceptions you would all like to see be discussed more often or are harmful, but others may not see it as such. Also, I might use your responses in my essay and I'm happy to post it here after I've completed it. 🙂 Obvi I will credit and mention those who's points I may use in the essay. 🙂

Edit: Also how do you all think these misconceptions impact us as a community? Thank you to everyone who responded to my post! I will be asking those who made a particularly detailed point to use their comments in my essay. Thank you!

Goth music that is more dreamy/ethereal?

Hello, I realized through an earlier post to this subreddit that I was HEAVILY misinformed on a lot of musicians being gothic and got lightly torn apart for it. (Aside from being told incorrect musicians flat out, it’s difficult for me to differentiate some similar genres from a goth subculture if that makes sense).

SO! I would like to update my playlist of dreamy/ethereal goth music and would love accurate suggestions!

I’m open to any music in general but preferably dreamy/ethereal. Thank you for being understanding! 😀

more patches!!!

been planning on making a deathrock (and maybe horror inspired) jacket, but i didn’t want to add anything else until i made a back patch, and after careful consideration, BOOM CATHOLIC SPIT

touched them up with some black paint as well the white things on the cs patch was unintentional spotting, but i decided to keep it lmao

all hail anarchostencilism and retirementfund

i made every one but the 🐦‍⬛ patch obvs will do more but this is a good amount for now

the stitching on the scarlet’s remains patch is a bit wonky imo (especially on the right side) but it’s only the 2nd one i’ve sewn so i’m giving myself obligatory grace

I’m looking for more music suggestions, I’ll put what I generally listen to and describe what I usually look for to see if anyone can make anymore suggestions!

I tend to look for songs with either powerful vocals or powerful instrumentals. An immediate turn off for me is when the vocals are completely overshadowed by the instrumentals.

I know a lot of the music I will place here to show what I mean will likely not be goth, since I'm still learning about the Goth scene. But all suggestions are good suggestions imo. Also if any of them are Goth inform me. I want to make a goth playlist on my Spotify and knowing is half the battle. Plus I want to be able to learn to have a better ear to tell what genres are what.

Ice Queen – Within Temptation

Jazmine Bean – Piggie

Jack Off Jill – Vivica

Neoni (Ft. Savage Ga$ p) – Knives

Darling Violetta – A Smaller God

Pierce the Veil – Disasterology

Paramore – Ignorance

My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise)

Chase Petra – Monet Issues

Tony22 – Earth Boy

Halsey – Control

AViVA – The Saint and The Sinner
