I get that we’re all sick of the «tik tok goth» posts, and this might be a bit related so sorry bout that. But what’s the deal with newer goths not knowing what deathrock is? Many of them at least know the basics of goth music, like sisters of mercy and the cure, but in most cases where I discuss music with babybats, very few even know the term deathrock. Is the genre outdated or (un)dead? There’s many goths in my city but the only deathrock band is the one I joined last year and none of the babybats in the scene know of that band either

i got into goth music because of them and want to know more good songs by them! my favorite is doppleganger

This is more for my own curiosity than anything, but how many of y'all are vegetarian or vegan? I know a lot of punk-rooted subcultures have large plant-based communities and I was curious about if that might also apply here.

i usually listen to premade playlist when im doing my makeup and getting ready for the day. but during chores and more high energy tasks i usually listen to emo/scene music. sometimes i listen to it before bed and let my mind settle with the tunes

when do you guys listen to goth music? do you play it in the background during a task or just lay down and vibe?

For me I discovered goth music through cosplay TikTok back in 2019-2020, I saw someone lip syncing to tear me apart by she wants revenge and since I’ve been hooked!

To clarify: This is just my personal experience with goths on the app, and it doesn't apply to all the ones I met there either.

Anyway. I have the feeling most goths on social media in general (even more on that damned brainrot app) are always repeating the same 4 phrases like fucking parrots. Seriously, it's always the same pseudo-thirst trap videos with the phrase "goth is a music based subculture" or "you can't be a goth if you buy from shein" "everyone is mean and elit1st" "you can't be a bigot(their definition of bigot is interesting) if you call yourself a goth" etc. All of this is TRUE ngl but they say it as if no one else heard it before. Which i find stupid tbh. On top of that there's all that attitude of wanting to show goths are kind and accepting/inclusive of everything on earth which is not true when it comes to hanging out in your local scene with people who have been on this planet for more than 15 years. Seriously I beg these individual to step out of their "Emily the strange" themed room and go get shitfaced at an ebm concert or something
