Does anyone remember Lakini Malich?

When I was still fairly new to goth in the early to mid-00s, Lakini (Dan) was well-known. He established a LiveJournal community called "gothmusicshare" and worked on the Drop Dead Festival in NYC. The deathrock revival he helped to spearhead was exciting. He had a significant following online.

I'm told that he was polarizing, however. My closest elder goth friend at the time was not fond of his immaturity and brash personality. (She was in the scene in the 80s and wasn't easily impressed. He called her "prissy.") I've since learned that he was a creep and an opportunist who mined his associates for underground band names like Blue In Heaven and then claimed that he, himself had discovered them from within the hidden vaults of previous decades.

What are your own thoughts and experiences?
