Teen Gothic

So, I have been referred as a goth for most of my life based on appearance, interests and personality. I never thought too hard on it until recently I decided to find people like me and I realized I don't think I'm actually a goth. I like gothic metal (strongly), but traditional goth bands don't really strike my interests. Not saying I hate the music, I find several songs to be to my liking, but I can't say I could listen to a full album and like everything in it. I find i prefer the gothic lyrics over a metal beat better. However, this has made me feel like a fraud whenever I'm referred to as a goth by others. Maybe its because I don't really know what my true title is? I am not afraid to just be "me" and not fit in a box, but if I could find the box I fit best in, I rather be called that.

So, am I actually a goth, or do I have a different group?
