She liked the Cocteau Twins….

It was our second date. I asked her over to my place for dinner. I didn't mention that I live in a semi-rural, Victorian house hidden away in a maple forest with a 200-foot driveway lined with gargoyles (technically they are grotesques). I never get any trick-or-treaters. She walked up the porch steps and casually asked "so you don't have any bodies buried around here, I hope". I told her "Well, my grandmother Tereza was from Transylvania. Came through Ellis Island."

I boiled home-made fettucine and sliced some fresh French bread. The Blue Bell Knoll CD was playing softly on the stereo. She asked, "who was that, can you play that again?". "Really? of course I can". My heart started pounding. I made coffee and lit a clove cig, started coughing and we both laughed as I confessed, I don't really smoke.

I asked her if she had ever been to a goth club. She said no. I asked if she was busy tomorrow. She went, "On Sunday? "Yeah, that's the best night, wear black."

She never stopped dancing the whole time. The fashion blew her away; she was complementary to girls wearing cute 'fits. We will dance together till the day we die.
