Teen Gothic

I wouldn't mind being part of a goth band. I'm painfully aware that I cannot sing—trust me on this; I'm not being humble—nor do I have the appearance to front a band. I'm not nearly attractive enough. Let's be frank: looks matter.

I have lots of free time, however, to learn an instrument over the next few years. I understand that it will take serious discipline and patience.

I'm looking for answers to either of these questions, or both:

– Any thoughts on which instrument to take up? Piano? Bass guitar? Viola? Violin? (I could buy a synth that mimics piano.) Let's say I have access to a place where I can practice without disturbing my roommates or neighbours.

– Who are some reasonably well-known goth musicians who aren't singers?

It think would be a cool idea to showcase the history of the goth subculture through accurate information and interesting and rare artifacts related to the subculture and genres in an enticing way. It would obviously be highly atmospheric and entertaining and easy to understand for the average person. Items can come archival collections, donations, band members, a good portion of support and money can be through through fundraisers/donations and certain percentage of the profits can go back to support different scenes, labels and artists. There could a restaurant and a concert space, a movie theatre, a thrift store etc.

I've been to rock'n'roll ones and punk ones in the past. I also think it can become a popular destination and a cool and entertaining place to visit while also dispelling myths and misinformation in an effective way.

I think it would be really cool. Anyone else on board with this idea?
