i am curious as to what inspired traditional goth makeup: particularly the look of siouxsie sioux who seems to be one of the most driving influences in the makeup. i suspect it may draw inspiration from many things – namely – ancient egyptian makeup, japanese theatre makeup and silent film stars – but i want a source to back that up. perhaps an original goth icon citing their influences?
