Conflicted With Subcultures

Hi there, for the longest time I’ve been questioning my musical tastes and way of dress. See I grew up in SoCal with oldies, doowop, and rockabilly. So naturally I embraced it going into middle school and highschool but also around that time i started to embrace the dark and macabre. As a result I got into Dark Cabaret with artists like, the Dresden Doll, Aurelio Voltaire, and Emilie Autumn to name a few. I also got into Psychobilly and Horror punk with Misfits, Koffin Kats, and MadSin. (While all this I was still dressing in my HepKat wear).

Now going into high school I started to have a love of many other genres from jazz to western and folk but always still gravitated to the main three; Rockabilly, Horror punk, and Dark Cabaret. A little later went to punk then post punk and other variations with Siouxsie and The Banshees, Joy Division, Echo and the bunnymen, Human Tetris, This Cold Night, and many more (Also when listening to my punk/ horror punk mix I stumbled across 45 Grave and then Christian Death).

I’ve always loved the music, dressing up, writing poetry/ songs, hanging out with my goth and punk friends, And being apart of watching cult movies while laughing and morbid things but I don’t know what to. Ive never liked labels but these three music genres have different ways of music, and dress with almost the same beliefs. Basically I don’t know how to incorporate all these into one thing with my dress and music as I’m a singer and guitar player.

I’ve always loved looking like Voltaire, like I’m going to the bat cave, or even like a undead monster. Yet I’ve also been into my rebellious non conforming rockabilly and punk roots.

Any advice would be amazing, please and thank you all. Take care!!

What should my next Cure cover be?

Hey friends! Received quite a bit of positive vibe from my Pornography full album cover last week and wanted to extend a poll out to you.

Of the other two remaining dark trilogy albums (Seventeen Seconds & Faith) what song would you want to hear covered next the most?

(Pornography cover link for those who didn’t hear https://livetwicetheband.bandcamp.com/album/isitalwayslikethis)
