Neurodivergence in the goth subculture
I'm curious about the claims I've seen that the goth subculture is a home to social misfits like myself. (I'm autistic and I have ADHD.) Discussion is welcome, if you feel like sharing.

Are you neurodivergent?

18th July~ Happy Desi and Arab Goth Representation Day
So last year me and my friends decided we'd celebrate every 18th July as Desi and Arab goths Representation Day!
The aim of this day isn't just to represent our Desi and Arab goth communities but also to celebrate our uniqueness and individuality within the subculture. Our experience as goths might different than others, this day is about celebrating those experiences that are exclusive for us! Also remembering how South Asian and Arab arts and culture have inspired the goth and gothic scenes for decades. From jewellery to textiles and clothes, from dance to music beats, from aesthetics to makeup, a lot of things in subculture have been inspired by many BIPOC cultures including Desi and Arab. So Desi and Arab people aren't foreign to goth and certainly do not deserve to be left out and hate crimed against in the scene for just being themselves.
Sadly, there still exists micro aggressions and racism against our communities in the scene. From casual racism against brown people to Islamophobia and infantilizing brown youth un subculture because a lot of people feel "we can't understand the complex ways of West", to ableism towards brown neurodivergent and/ or disabled people in Subculture, we need to fight it all, together. So, we grow the subculture together by creating a safer place for self-expression.
To Celebrate this day I, with help of my Desi and Arab Goth friends, I created a Music video featuring my brown goth friends celebrating their culture/s and subculture <3
The Song is called Pishach, learn more about the concept in the description of my music video 🙂
Pishach would be up on Spotify by 12th August so stay tuned!!
