question

Are bands like Twin Tribes, She Passed Away and Molchat Doma considered Goth? I always thought they were, but someone told me that if early 00's goths would hear me say that they would punch me in the throat.

Hey, just a quick question:

Does it bother you that goths get fetishised so much? It genuinely bothers me like I want to dress the way I do for myself, not for anyone else and I definitely do not want to be cat called when I go out because I’m a goth and fetishised

So why is everyone asking this same question over and over?

The “Am I Goth?” Or the “Is this Goth?” Question.

I have a question

These people at my school keep calling me “emo” and it fucking pisses me of but isn’t that just cultural discrimination? Someone please tell if I’m right on this one so that I can do something about it.

Stupid question, but what happened to Cinema Strange?

Last weekend i was going trough my older music library and came across old Cinema Strange albums. Tried to see if they were in spotify, and only found one of their songs in some random collection album. Googled around, but didn't really find anything, as if they suddenly just stopped without any reason sometime around 2006. So anyone here know what/why and if they still exist in some form today? Just curious, because used to listen to them almost daily back in the beginning of 2000s.

Band question! Are they goth?

Hello! I'm quite new to the goth community. I've been listening to some bands like London After Midnight, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Depeche Mode.

I wanted to ask if the following bands could be considered goth:

• Sidewalks and Skeletons • Ludovico Technique • Night Club

All of them seem to have darkwave as one of their genres (going by google) but I'm not quite sure.

question

ok so I’m not really goth / alt or anything, but I like the style and the music. so I was wondering in general is someone who occasionally dresses that way & listens to the music (but also other genres) still considered goth? Or is it the kind of thing you need to be “all in” for. idk lol I’ve just always been curious ab this

Weird question, but a genuine one

I’m not great at socializing due to anxiety, but I want to be more active in the goth scene despite it not being very large where I am. Does anybody have recommendations on how to make friends in the scene for somebody that struggles in social settings?

A Question about Goth Interractions vs Memory Issues

Hey guys! I'm just going to preface this by saying I've been into the goth subculture for many years. since Freshman year in high school (2005) to be exact. I've always adored the music and the aesthetic and all that comes with it. I have my go-to favorite bands, but learning about new bands and getting into them definitely excites me as well. In senior year, I developed a thyroid disease of sorts, which has been since been treated, but thyroid issues of any degree affect memory very badly, no matter what age you are. If you know, you know.

I live in a town where we don't really have an active Goth scene. Post pandemic, my friend has spearheaded a monthly Goth night at a bar downtown. I'm beyond ecstatic about it, but I don't really know what to expect. I do worry that due to my memory issues and slight social anxiety that stems from said issues, I will struggle to remember band names, songs and lyrics (even the ones I've known for years) and look like a complete moron/poseur…Especially to the ones who like to act like because they can rattle off tons of information they're kings and queens of the local goth scene and everyone is beneath them. I honestly just want to go out, live in the moment and enjoy myself without any drama like that, even though I fully expect it.

My question is, those of you who struggle with memory issues and subsequent social anxiety deal with elitists and "pop quizzers" while out at a goth club or goth night?

Love and peace to you all. <3

Question

How do you guys feel about people who identify as goth, but only through the aesthetic part of it? I feel like whenever the word “goth” pops up in people’s heads, the aesthetic is the first thing that comes to mind. I’m relatively new to this scene, so I don’t know shit about shit lol.
