Is it weird to go to a goth club alone?

So there's a club in my city that sometimes organises goth rock music nights (it's not exclusively a goth club). There's an event coming up soon that I'd like to go but I have no one to go with, I've been to lives and concerts alone and I don't mind that BUT is it weird and awkward to go to a club on your own? (I'm female btw). I want to go but I have a feeling I'll feel like a fish out of water being an introverted goth alone at a club…

Edit: Thanks everyone for your responses! 🖤 It's going to be a Maske Party as well because it's the time of the carnival where I'm from so that might make it easier to attend alone! And I guess having a beer or a glass of wine before attending might calm my anxiety… As for safety concerns, I've been to this club many times for concerts (both alone and with friends) and never had any issues, I just haven't tried clubbing alone and I guess everything new is scary at first 🦇

Is wearing a trench coat a bit… weird?

I honestly would love to buy one, and I've never been the type of guy to get intimidated by a piece of clothing until… I came across the leather trench coat. I love everything about how they look but I feel like it seems a bit hard to pull off if you don't rock it with confidence.

It'd be funny if I am being compared to Blade or Van Helsing or some shit like that but I honestly feel like people would make Columbine jokes. Does anyone feel like that or I am getting too paranoid? I'd love to hear your thoughts about trench coats. I'll probably still go ahead and buy one lol

Weird

Very weird experience there was a group of 4 people one of the girls wouldn't stop staring at me and laughing… I've never experienced this in a goth venue before yet she kept looking and trying to start something with me. Like why are people like this I'm not fighting a literal child…. Has anyone experienced negative occurrences with people like this ?

Don’t be weird at shows please

I was at The Mission and The Chameleons last night in Seattle and at one point confetti went off during a song. A piece settled into the hair of a girl in front of me. The man standing next to me who WAS NOT WITH THE GIRL started to reach over to pick the confetti out of her hair. I pushed his arm away because don’t fucking touch strangers like that. Yeah it’s a show and you’re going to be pressed together to an extent but there was just something so gross about it.

Drab Majesty’s weird relationship with Racism

I remember Andrew Clinco of Drab Majesty came under fire for posting a racially insensitive tweet. There was a statement after “The tweet was myopic, unsympathetic, steeped in cultural prejudice, and it represented myself as both a racist and a bigot” He continues “I see now that it emanated from a position of white privilege, something that I promise to recognize moving forward. It was a careless and selfish attempt at humor without considering my audience and the current state of the world, and I see how this tweet contributes to a frightening climate of increasing harassment against Asians and people of color, making a space for discourse less safe.”

Recognising that is all well and good, however Andrew Clinco also has a music project called VR Sex of which Aaron Montaigne (Antioch Arrow) is a member. Montaigne is an ex soldier and has a tattoo of the Black Sun (a symbol used by the SS) on his lower leg. I also saw a video of him wearing a ring with the symbol on it.

If I remember correctly in the same video he mentioned being proud to have fought in combat and mentioning “the fucked up democracy we live in.”

As ironic as it seems, Cryptofascism is prevalent in areas of the Hardcore scene and this sadly extends to Goth and Industrial. What I find really creepy is the song Surrender. It appears to be from the point of view of someone in a club who sees someone there as being pretentious and stupid, noting that they “dress like Jimi Hendrix”

Plenty of racists deny their racism, especially when they’ve been called out for it in public. They’ll say anything to slip back under the radar.

You can easily disguise your sick beliefs in lyrics. These can be clues to others who believe the same “if you know you know”

It’s deeply disturbing because I love Drab Majesty’s music. It’s always sounded like some of the freshest music in the scene. So what’s going on with Drab Majesty?

would it be weird if i went to a goth club by myself?

okay i know this is kind of a silly question and the answer is "no" but i recently moved and wanted to check out some clubs in nyc. i don't really have any friends to go with yet (none of my friends are goth) so i was thinking of going alone but even though i'm extroverted, i feel weird if i intrude a friend group there or dance by myself or if i sit at the bar alone and people think i'm weird or something i don't know. i was particularly interested in checking out qxt's or saint vitus if that helps at all.

anyone else notice this weird narrative going around?

Not sure if it's been something that's been around for a long time but I'm noticing people(mainly on social media) getting annoyed at goth people and saying its their only personality and that music and cloths shouldn't define who you are? It's kinda weird because it implies that all goth people live 24/7 only talking about Gothic stuff as if we are one dimensional which is impossible and completely untrue goth people don't only do goth things why are people getting mad at things they made up in their head it's so silly

Weird question, but a genuine one

I’m not great at socializing due to anxiety, but I want to be more active in the goth scene despite it not being very large where I am. Does anybody have recommendations on how to make friends in the scene for somebody that struggles in social settings?

How do you deal with “being weird”?

I'm currently a junior in high school with a very eccentric batty style and I've noticed much more recently how many people are laughing at me and making fun of me. It makes me want to quit being goth, almost.

How do you deal with being weird and being made fun of?
