Teen Gothic

I know it had a Pink Floyd influence but besides that I was thinking any other bands and even artists. I have come across some bands that sounded close enough like Lycia (Well kind of). I would say it doesn't have to be goth but that would probably break the second rule.

I find it ironic that the writers of these movies/series never bother to show the music that the "goth" characters are listening to or even posters in their room since most of them are high school kids.

I understand that you can't tell if a certain character is goth if she doesn't look goth, but at least give a hint about the music she listens to, it will make a lot more sense.

It's always the gothic look and some kind of self defense "I have no friends and I hate everyone" altho I'm personly a bit like that in reality lol it's a bit insulting to this community as a whole.

I just got home from City Record Club and the Save The Cranker Rally. I didn't play a single goth song today though you could argue a couple are close. Love and Rockets So Alive single? Nope, I played the B side – Bike! And that sounds like some sort of weird blues/jazz/rock thing. Plus rock, techno, post punk, new wave, disco and a Yamaha 70s organ rendition of Popcorn. -10 goth points me.

The rally was a death march to Parliament House and onto the Crown and Anchor Hotel itself. And I stopped at a record store on the way. But what did I buy? $ 2 bargain bin K-Tel compilations for a Record Club set I'm calling "The worst sounding vinyl set ever" using nothing but K-Tel compilations.

6 hours on my feet mostly on concrete. My feet want to disown me, my back aches, I was getting stabbing pains in my leg and I have a pain in the diodes down my left side.

But we got word the planned demolition has been voided by the state premier so the pub is saved! The best alternative/live music venue in the city is here to stay.

does the goth scene have a relationship with the gay leather scene? if so, in what ways? where can i find art/resources in this specific niche? does anyone here belong to both subcultures? do you wanna start a shitty band or zine?

I live in a small city in Spain, and there is nothing to do as a goth. There are rock clubs, but they won't play the slightest bit of post-punk, goth rock or any other related subgenres. It's so frustrating.

The worst part is that this entire country lacks goth scene everywhere. Big cities (Madrid and Barcelona) have a few goth nights every now and then, that's it. I believe in Barcelona there's a bit more going on (never been there), but still, it feels completely dead.

I think there are a lot of frustrated goths in Spain, just like me. It isn't that rare and we have some nice local bands. But where is the scene? I just want to have fun in a goth club, dress up and dance to my favourite music :/

Anyone who is in this situation (I know there are people as it's a common topic in this sub hehe): write about it. What do you do to enjoy music outside? How do you meet other goths?
