5 Days of Alien Sex Fiend, Day 1: Who’s Been Sleeping in My Brain? (1983)

Over the next five days I’ll be showing off my collection of Alien Sex Fiend vinyl in chronological order of release, starting off with their debut album, Who’s Been Sleeping in My Brain?

This is a solid album with a sound that’s closer to classic goth rock than most of their work. Some songs will make you feel like dancing, some will make you feel like falling down the stairs (in a good way).

Extras: red and black splatter vinyl and dust jacket with hand written song lyrics

My 3 top tracks (in the order they appear on the track list):

– Wish I Woz a Dog

– I Am a Product

– Ignore the Machine

Honorable mention:

– Lips Can’t Go

Something about goth resonates with my autistic brain

Went through the whole """goth phase""" a decade ago (i.e. dressing in black and being a moody teenager and thinking liking skulls made me Edgy™ without actually understanding what goth was) but now I'm finding actual goth music and madly trawling this sub for recommendations and just

The music. My brain. It gets me. It gets being into the stuff that people around me would label "weird" and "why do you even like that" which has just been my whole life up to this point. So many songs are just so aurally pleasing and I was happily stimming to my growing playlist tonight because I can feel the music. I'm even finding some of my new favourite bands and songs and playing them on repeat so much that I'm going to sleep with them playing in my head 😭

Just…so glad I found this sub and all the recommendations, they've really kept me busy lately when I needed it 🖤
