Questions + Concerns

Hello! I have been a part of the scene for quite some time. I can say I am loosing interest in modern darkwave and goth music as a whole. While I was very much into in it in the mid 2010s when bands like Twin Tribes, Lebanon Hanover, Rendez Vouz, and Ash Code, were all small bands. Now, I couldn't care less to turn on any of their music. It's all the same and it seems now every band is a mere copy of the last. In the 90s, many bands were called Sisters copies. Think the Wake. But I really enjoyed the creepiness that music gave off. It felt unique. Modern dark wave lost this. It just feels stale. Anyone else feel this way? You may say I haven't heard the right new stuff. I have heard Harsh Symmetry, and it's exactly the same as every other band I have mentioned just with a better haircut.

All in all. I miss it.

I wanted to thank who answered my previous questions and concerns

I wanted to thank who answered my previous questions and concerns on two different posts I made in this subreddit today, I asked about music reccomendations and the emarginating deaf people problem, I received amazing answers and I think that from now on I will look more often into the wiki part of a subreddit, something I never do and that's a me problem. I wanted quick answers to something I feel really attached and the mods gave them to me I can say immediately. Thank you and continue with the great moderating job, I could never do that this fast, now I will dig into the wiki.

so many goth culture questions? (just like this one)

just curious why so many people post here asking about goth culture stuff, almost like they're afraid….

i'm not really talking about when people ask about the music per-se…. but rather mostly about interacting/socializing with other goths/how to act at goth events…..

it's almost like people have this stereotype in their heads and pre-conceived notions that people who listen to goth are all alike and need to act a certain way around other goths.

so many people are insecure about being goth or being around other goths and are overly sensitive and intimidated about goth stuff.

i sort of see this in other music genre cultures, like punks who want to know how to act at a punk show or something like that. this is a little more understandable, cause people don't want to end up with a black eye.

but i can't figure it out about goth.

why do people feel the need to be so cautious about wanting to join goth communities or go to goth shows or club night or feel that they need some sort of validation from everyone to be apart of the community?

personally i don't give a flying fuck about what others think… ESPECIALLY about listening to goth music…. and certainly about wanting to partake in events with other goths.

what is it about the culture that makes you so insecure?

it's really easy:

  1. have interest in goth music
  2. show up to goth event
  3. meet other goths

that's it…. thats all you need to do…

all this fashion, attitude, persona stuff….intimidation bs…… is just……… garbage….
