Hello, Darklings! My bf and I have been together almost 6 years and though we've talked about marriage throughout, the topic has become more serious lately. He's not goth, but is so supportive and encouraging of me 🖤! We've been talking about rings and honeymoon destinations and music. I know the proposal will be in the near future. So I just wanted to ask what gothic songs you would recommend for a wedding reception playlist. I have some, but I would love to hear suggestions from everyone. 🦇🖤🫀thx!

hey! I’m completely obsessed with anything 90s romantic goth, but I’m 24 and was not around for it in it’s prime. anyone here who was? could you tell me what music/films/literature you were really into at the time?

Also, I'm not exactly the most goth fashioned person so any shops (England) would you recommend? I want to slowly integrate more goth fashion into my life.

So I' ve recent discovered more modern goth music and I am in love. My favourites are Twin Tribes, Traitrs and The Agnes Circle and I am looking for similar bands that have a similar vibe 🙂

Alright, where to begin.

Developed my love for goth rock and any other dark genres associated, starting 20 years ago.

One group I cant find anything super similar to is Rosetta Stone. Something about Porl King's singing style, maybe the fact most of it is electronic… im not certain why, but i love Rosetta Stone over all of the other groups. I literally own every vinyl record Rosetta Stone has produced.

Ive seen some excellent taste in this subreddit, and hoping you all can give me a hand in expanding my music playlist, and vinyl collection if possible. Thank you all for being awesome.

I'm probably going to come off as a snob here, but when it comes to my musical tastes, I am indeed a bit of a snob, so bear with me, I'm not judging anyone's tastes.

For the most part, I like music with meaningful lyrics that tell a story – that's one of the reasons I love The Cure so much. The old classics – Bauhaus, SoM, Siouxsie, Fields of the Nephilim and so forth – most of their songs tell a story. I like music that just sounds good and has a beat you can dance to as much as the next guy, but I need more than that.

Recently, I checked out a few of the newer bands I see mentioned here – She Past Away, in particular – and I honestly wasn't impressed. The melodies were repetitive and the lyrics were kind of inane – just sp00ky words repeated. It was enjoyable enough, but I would quickly get bored with it without some more variety.

I would love to explore more goth music from the 2000s to now, so given everything I've written here, what would you recommend? TIA.
