Wanting to show off what I’m going for in my DIY jacket for now
This is the first jacket I've dared to paint by hand, and I'm quite happy with how it's turning out (IGNORING THE FIVE TEETH ON TOP AND BOTTOM, OH MY GOD, HOW COULD I HAVE MADE SUCH A MISTAKE). But I've been thinking that maybe it needs something more for a more '80s aesthetic. Perhaps more bands from that era? I'm not sure. What do you think? If I need to send more photos of certain areas of the jacket, I'd be happy to.

People only wanting to date you for the “Aesthetic”
It’s like they only care about how you two would look as a couple, which really doesn’t matter. I’ve been running into this with both men and women. I’m a trans guy, but a lot of girls only want to be with me because they dress in pink and are very girly, and they’re like “we’d look so different and cute omg!” and the men are honestly the same.
None of these people are even into the music, they just like the aesthetic of having a partner who’s goth because it makes them look “cooler”, or something? I think it falls into the same vein of those guys who only want goth girls for fetish purposes.
I personally turn these people down, some of them are way more persistent than i like them to be though. I’m gay, but the women who like me are always SUPER persistent about it, even after i make it clear i’m not interested. I feel like many of us would like partners who are into the same music and have the same interests, (which many non-goth people would also like as well). People still tend to forget we’re real people and not like a lion in a cage for everyone to gawk at.
I do think this is pretty common, i just wanted to have a discussion about it, see if this is common with everyone else from different places.

How does someone wanting to get into the scene learn about local shows and stuff?
I’ve been wanting to get into the goth scene for a while but due to controlling parents I wasn’t able to until I recently moved out. That being said how would y’all recommend someone from a smaller town find the local goth community?

13M wanting to transition to more of an alt/goth style, any tips?
i dont know what to put here
Almost 50 and wanting to begin goth
Ever since I was a kid I've had likes that until today I never considered I would be goth. I like the standard black, some of my favorite clothes have had skulls, a red & black plaid skirt, I love chokers… the more I say anything I feel like I'm just trying to make myself sound goth, but looking at pics and thinking about myself over the years it seems to make sense.
So, I want to start trying to transition. I'm hoping for some encouragement even though I'm so old to change up my clothes. I have tons of black stuff, but looking at the goth clothes it seems right.
The pic is me, yes that is a Halloween costume, but it's the closest I have to me in anything remotely goth. I'd love some thoughts and suggestions.
