I just want to say to those of you who are not afraid to express themselves that you are all brave.

I'm sharing it here because it seems related even though the sub is talking about the music.

There is something about self-expression that is super hard if you have social anxiety or if you grew up in a conservative home.

Even years before I got into the goth scene as a young girl I was very anxious to stand out or look strange especially from where I come from.

The thing is that I wanted to stand out but my social anxiety together with the conservative and primitive home I come from I couldn't.

I still look at goths and say "one day I can look like that without caring what everyone or my family says".

I'm also not a social person so it's much harder to find "people like you".

So how many of you had this problem and overcame it ?

What’s a tag on Instagram for goth stuff that’s not full of perverted content

I am tired of seeing half naked individuals when I just want to see stuff for the music, fashion or the culture in general. Sorry if this is the wrong sub but I'm at my wit's end with it

What is that one band that most goths seem to like but you just don’t?

For me it's Christian Death I'm still trying to get into them but I don't understand why they are so loved I didn't find anything special or particularly enjoyable about them.

And if I'm being honest? I really like goth music but I haven't found bands that I like a lot of their songs. I consider myself a fan of the genre and not a fan of any band/artist.

Does Siouxsie and the Banshee’s “Dazzle” sample another classical song?

The strings at the beginning and end of the song just sound so familiar but google is not helping me find out if it’s original or sampled. If it is, could someone let me know what song it is? Just curious

How do I host a cemetery picnic?

I wanna host a big cementary picnic every now and then for goths in my region to go to as a space that isn’t one of the very few goth nights that exist here (Triangle North Carolina). Anyone have any tips for just organizing it, getting food, making sure the cemetery is okay with it, just any and all advice you could give in general?

Goth music recs

Hey all! I’ve been feeling a bit stagnant when it comes to finding/listening to new (to me) artists, so I was hoping for some recommendations. I’ve included a list of bands I love and some that I like, but haven’t gotten fully into to hopefully help a bit. I’m also totally open to individual song recommendations. Hopefully this wasn’t too long of a post, thanks!

Loves: Nox Novacula, Diva Destruction, Rosegarden Funeral Party, Scary Bitches, Scarlet’s Remains, Mephisto Waltz, Twin Tribes, Skeletal Family, Second Still, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Ghost Dance, Bauhaus, Yakima Jera, Secret Shame, Void Vision, 45 Grave, Belgrado, Selofan, Molchat Doma

Likes (For most of these bands I just need to explore the discography more, so song recs would be helpful here as well): Switchblade Symphony, Voodoo Church, Xmal Deutschland, Lebanon Hanover, Dead Can Dance
