Teen Gothic

I'm totally new to gothic music tho I think we all know the song "ligea" by them but they don't seems to be a well known band.

I'm curious about what most of you do for jobs and specifically if your job still allows you to dress in a more alternative fashion.

I'm job hunting right now so really I want recommendations and just to see what's open to us. Before anyone says it yes I know goth is a music subculture, but for me at least fashion has had an impact on me as well as the music.

I used to sort all my music by genre on Spotify, but ever since I got into goth music, my singular “goth” playlist has ballooned into hundreds of songs without much organization.

So my question is, do you organize your goth playlists by bands? Albums? Subgenre? What your favorite goth songs are at the moment vs what is overplayed that you can’t bear to delete off?

For me, it was having a friend as a kid whose older sister dressed alternative and we tried copying her. The friend grew out of it but it caused me to be fascinated with goth and I wanted to get into it. I also had a fascination with alternative characters on tv.

Like someone who you never expected to be so for whatever reason but you’re surprised to find out they are?

Hi. I would like to know what made you guys become goth. Was it the way how gothic people dress or was it the music or both or some other factor?

Hey, I don't know why but I felt like I should post this here. I'm trying really hard not to lose my mind. I'm planning to leave my boyfriend. I've been seeing him for almost a year and things aren't going so well. He's turned abusive. I'm stuck in a town 2 hours away from my hometown with no way to get back.

I'm disabled and can no longer drive. He's taking advantage of that. He treats me like a paycheck and meal ticket. I've broken up with him several times but he refuses to accept it. He's even said that I don't know what is best for me. He said that breaking up isn't what I really want and has said that he doesn't care what I want, I'm not allowed to leave him.

I'm depressed and I just want to go home. I have somewhere to stay in my hometown but no way to get there. I've called the domestic violence shelter here and they will not help me because I'm wanting to leave the county. I just don't know what to do anymore. I never consented to moving here. We used to come down on the weekends to visit friends. In February, he waited until we got here to tell me that we weren't going back.

He refuses to accept reality. He thinks I'm going to marry him and everything will be fine. I don't want to marry him. In fact, I just want to be single from now on. The only thing that keeps keeps me sane is dressing up and listening to Bauhaus and Peter Murphy. I also like Killing Joke, Sisters of Mercy and The Mission UK among others. I just want to talk to you, my people. I'm not asking for money, I just need support. Thank you for reading.

I'm not so daft as to bother people just trying to have a good time at the local goth club.

But as a middle millenial, dating sites just seem very unreliable. A lot of what I have found has been bots and people advertising business.

And the few times I've found real people, they're hesitant to move forward because the nail polish and eyeliner is weird to them, or they'd be embarrassed to bring someone home who does that.

So, what do you guys think? I'm happy to hear any ideas, opinions, or personal experiences, good, bad or funny.
