Teen Gothic

I used to study subcultural styles and I wanted to ask about the looks I see with younger goths at the club and online.

The main thing I've noticed over the last couple years is a makeup style that consists of a white base with intricate black details added over it. Does anyone know the source of this look? A lot of goth style comes from emulating musicians, but I can't think of any that do this look (maybe Twin Tribes sometimes?). It like how it takes a trad goth look and iterates on it.

Also, in terms of dress how would you characterize Gen Z? I probably haven't paid as much attention to this as I should, in general they seems to go for traditional goth looks but maybe there are patterns I'm not seeing yet.

Want to go to a goth show in London but never been before…. is everyone dressed in black?

I have an immense appreciation for the Victoria era and have been wanting to dress basically like a Victorian vampire for some time now, on the slightly more historically-accurate side. I've seen a few decent items on websites like Shrine of Hollywood and Dracula Clothing, namely their waistcoats, shirts, and a couple tailcoats, however when it comes to measurements, I don't even make it to their smallest sizes. I'm 5'0, of average weight, and wear size five shoes. I truly am in quite the predicament. Do I have any other options? If I must I am willing to take up sewing, though I'm not sure I'll be especially proficient, and I can imagine it might take me a long while to become adept enough to make the pieces I truly desire. I'd be willing to wear women's sizes as well, however I doubt there are many particularly masculine options. I'm not particularly put off by higher prices either, as a fellow artist I acknowledge that good craftsmanship is expensive.

Any tips for a first timer?

It’s baffling to me that most of the scene has no clue about quality footwear.

I wish there was a punk brand out there that produced Goodyear welted or Blake stitched shoes and stuff. With high end leathers and construction.

So I’ve been going with brands WAY outside of the goth and punk scenes for my shoes.

If you’re involved in goth fashion, please consider producing high end, well made footwear for us.

Enough of the poor quality.

Goth fashion shouldn’t be fast fashion.

I want to purchase more handmade gothic clothing. Been kind of lazy to make my own stuff now and a lot of these “gothic” clothing store have been making clothes that just aren’t quite right.

I’m currently looking for a prom dress and i’m having a hard time finding anything reasonably priced or my style.

It seems like most gothic clothes you find are stolen/deadstock items and i really wanna shop ethically instead
