Teen Gothic

i’m not totally sure what flair to put here but i just wanted to talk about it somewhere. i’m a baby goth just starting to get into more of the music— you might’ve seen my posts on here before. but just recently i found out my mom was into a few well known goth bands in the 80s! she’s always had a cool music taste, i grew up on green day for example. i’ve also known she was into quite a few post-punk bands when she was younger, echo & the bunnymen and the cure being two of her favorites. she was OBSESSED with the cure and in love with robert smith i believe. but i just asked her if she also listened to bands like siouxsie & the banshees and cocteau twins since i’ve been getting into them lately and she said she was and to totally look into it! she never dressed in gothic fashion but i just thought it was super cool to know lol

So I wanna go to this event on Long Island but I have no one to go with so I’ll likely be going alone. I’m autistic and a loner so Ive struggle to have go to friendships over the last couple of years as well as currently being single atm. There’s a huge goth scene in nyc but it’s pretty rare that they have these events on Long Island where the venue is literally 15 mins from your house so I wanna take advantage of it. How do you navigate a situation like this?

Most subs have questions you have to answer when you apply to join but this is just ridiculous. Is the name of his cat supposed to be something any goth would know?

I took off some patches to cover up the old The Smiths logo I painted on there so I need to add them back.

If it’s about being in active addiction, I don’t want to hear it (for a while). Only if it’s about overcoming it. Darkwave even better

I'm Iranian(born in America tho) and I'm trying to improve my Farsi and I was curious if anyone knows some Iranian Goth bands?(can someone please explain to me what I did wrong bc this post seems to be ticking some people off and literally all I asked was if anyone knew Iranian Goth bands)

I’ve had MANY people ask me “what type of music is considered goth” I always explain it to them of course because I don’t want to be a mean weirdo. But I find it odd. It would be like if someone asked “what type of music is rap? Or punk?” Like… punk music, punk music is punk. I just think it’s strange how many people don’t know that goth is a music genre.

I tried to find them on YouTube or Spotify but for some reason they don't have an account/channel so I was wondering how well known/unknown they are in the community.

I feel like I’ve see a bunch of photos of the online and they look cool
