Baby bat: I just like post-punk

(Baby bat here) (I would even say a newborn baby bat)

I'm already a metalhead. I enjoy trash, groove, gothic, occult, doom, alternative, etc. On the rock scene, I like hard rock, psychedelic, blues, stoner and more. I have searched, and it appears that gothic metal, symphonic metal and occult rock aren't in the gothic subculture. I have been more interested in the goth scene because of aesthetics, books and movies, but of course, I also like the music. Until now, what I genuinely appreciated in goth music was post-punk. I really didn't like dark or cold waves. Likewise, am I goth, even just liking post-punk?

Edit: of all subreddits that I go to, the r/goth are the one were have the most kind ones!

Goth music recs for a classic post-punk fan?

I love bands like Wire, Gang of Four, the Fall, the Raincoats, Pere Ubu, Magazine, Pylon, the Sound, Cleaners from Venus, A Certain Ratio, the Chameleons, etc. but haven't really dived into the goth end yet. I'd like to, honestly just cause there's not much of a community around that stuff and it's bumming me out. Where to start? Looking for stuff with some energy, something danceable. The moody atmospheric stuff isn't usually my vibe

How do you differentiate between standard post-punk and gothic rock? (Like the dark post punk gothic rock)

I can definitely differentiate in many cases but I’m curious to how to properly differentiate it music wise because a lot of gothic rock sounds like standard post-punk and whenever I hear a post punk song I wonder if it’s gothic rock, ik lyrical themes play a big role and all but I wanna know how to properly tell the difference, I’m still learning about the subculture so I’m open to learning.

Our Visit To The Moon – new gloomy post-punk band from near Giessen in Germany

Hi! We're "Our Visit To The Moon", a really new and unknown gloomy post-punk band consisting of five members from near Giessen in Germany, north of Frankfurt/Main!

Our first single "Blurry" was released last Thursday (Aug. 31st) almost everywhere 😁! You can listen to it at https://linktr.ee/ov2tm

Feel free to blast it loud, share it and add it to your playlists! 😎

There you can also find social media, Bandcamp and mail links.

Here's footage from our first gig. The song is called "Definition of Fun": https://youtu.be/OdMUg2vFj9s?si=iQ4qoZN3mZe4bC_2

Our Visit To The Moon (short OV2TM) are: Karol Oskar (me) – vocals and bass, Consti – keys/synths and backing-vocals, Martin – rhythm-guitar and backing-vocals, Felix – Lead-guitar, Sebastian – Drums

Our biggest musical influences at this point are The Chameleons, Pink Turns Blue, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Killing Joke, as well as Iggy Pop and the Stooges, old-school punk, post-punk and new-wave/Neue Deutsche Welle (soundwise) in general, Interpol, The Editors and maybe bands you don't expect such as Queens of The Stone Age, Kyuss and Brant Bjork's projects.

At the moment we're working on our second single, planning concerts for the fall and winter in our Hesse region and a band photo-shoot 😂.

We're excited to read from you and maybe one day we'll meet at a show? That'd be awesome!
