What are the subgenres within goth?

I'll see music posted with tags like goth rock, post-wave, etc. What's the difference?

why does coldwave seem to be such an obscure subgenre compared to the other goth rock subgenres?

it's almost always listed by people when listing goth rock subgenres, but i can't think of many classic bands in the genre, other than little nemo, coldreams, and lost desert (and maybe modern eon? idk). i can think of more modern coldwave bands than old school ones despite the subgenre seemingly being a cornerstone of goth rock. it's definiitely less obscure than say grey rock or grave wave, but still

feel free to leave coldwave recs for me, i feel like i need more to listen to

Does anyone else have issues differentiating between genres just from hearing them? A lot of the slow, dark music like goth subgenres or post punk kinda blend together sometimes.

It could be a product of my ADHD or just that I have little knowledge about certain things. I've been a part of the goth culture for quite a while, and sometimes in frustrates me to be unable to easily deduce between what's what.
