Do you have any references for bands on the Japanese scene( goth, darkwave, post-punk, ebm..) , both today and in the past? I find it hard to navigate…

Too Goth to be Punk. Too Punk to be Goth. Black Rain make dark aggressive Northern Post Punk. It would mean the world to us if you were able to have a listen to our debut album.

I'm looking for something that truly has a goth atmosphere, but with mosh riffs.

Right now the only things I can think of are Eyes of Fear and Portrayal of Guilt.

I've also heard a bit of deathrock/chain punk/black metal crossover, but honestly that sort of thing isn't my thing. I'm looking for cold post punk influenced atmospheric melancholy, combined with heavy mosh riffs.

Some notable ones i already have are lesbian bed death, siouxsie and the banshees, Cocteau twins, mystic priestess, molchat doma, cemetery sex and scary bitches. It's also a plus if the group happens to be female led or lesbian.

I know these aren’t genres this sub talks about much because they aren’t goth but. I’m having trouble categorizing this stuff outside of goth/industrial proper

This is wildly different than my experience in New England and I was shocked to see it tbh.

I love goth, post punk, dark wave, deathrock, etc etc etc… but I’m trying to find some other genres to enjoy so I don’t get too bored of my favorite music. What other kinds of music do you guys enjoy and recommend?
