Teen Gothic

You know after watching this documentary on Vice about the Goth scene in Suburban California, (I'll post a link of it in the comments),it not only amazed me on how strong the goth scene is in San Diego but it also made me want to learn more about the Goth Subculture, and the good thing about it is I live in San Diego, lived here for 22 years, not to mention on r/sandiego the mods pointed to this goth club in San Diego, Club Sabbat which I plan to go to one day.

To me this is the perfect way to learn more about the Subculture and in a DIY way, befriend some goths here in SD, I have a history of befriending people from different lifestyles then again I an extrovert & a social butterfly, but I am not naive, I know that in any group there exist assholes & pricks so I am aware of Goths who are good and kindhearted & those who are pure grade-A assholes.

This is generally subjective but I always feel like Im not doing enough to truly emerse myself into a newly discovered band. I listen to a few albums and love what I hear but then feel as if there is something more that is needed to be considered a fan. Ive taken an effort to research origins and band members past and future projects but eventually I move onto a different band and some of the details fog away with another band taking its place. Real goths who have emersed themselves in the subculture for much longer then I always seems to just have this encyclopedia in the back of their minds and I listen with so much awe, Im frankly jealous of how natural it all sounds. I want that but dont know what Im doing wrong
