Teen Gothic

Obviously being facetious, but damn they used to have great music at that fest. Bauhaus, Siouxsie, The Cure, New Order, Depeche, She Wants Revenge, Jesus and Mary Chain, Caifanes, NIN, Gang of Four, Interpol, Tv on the radio, Kraftwerk, Portishead, Love and Rockets, Echo and the buns… I know it makes sense being a west coast fest back then… but what the hell happened to this festival? Many of these bands were even headliners.

Also know some of these aren’t technically goth but I know we love em all the same in our batcaves.

Hello, i love this band and the song by O children, the disco dancer death and im really curious about what is that instrument used in the very beggining and throughout the song, it sounds like a crystal or something. I want to start making music and id like to include that instrument, anyone know the name ?

I completely forgot them. All I remember was an European show presenting them. The pretty girl show host talked with duck lips and she had awful posture. I even forgot the name of the show they were on. I know it's somewhere on youtube. Thanks,

I don’t mean like by regular people who think our music and clothes are weird. I mean by other people in the goth music subculture. I’ve heard some older millennials and gen x say when they were young, even though ppl would listen to goth music, attend events/clubs that supported local goth bands, dress the part, etc. you could never call yourself goth bc that was cringe and in some cases ironically made you less goth. Where did this come from? Is it because they didn’t want to be associated with posers/mallgoths that wanted the label so badly? Did it have something to do with anti-conformity?

Casual goth

so.. as you know i am.. a baby bat.. and i am doing my best with appearing as goth as i can especially with my budget and working part time with weird hours.. and a friend if mine who used to be goth is.. abit of a prick to me in a way saying that “casual goths aren’t goths, you’re not goth if you’re going to be casual about it, i and my ex gf went full outfits even on casual days”

after digging further there are other tracks (“Party Monster” for one) that I found that are synth/darkwave-y although I’m not sure if they’re original compositions or samples taken from goth tracks. His music tends to use a lot of minor chords and progressions which is why i’m getting goth vibes from his music. I just thought I’d post this bc i’m genuinely amazed at how he’s fused his music with moody minor chords, and the idea that he (probably) listens to goth music during his free time is quite cool.
