ex friend who used to be goth is saying I’m no goth
so.. as you know i am.. a baby bat.. and i am doing my best with appearing as goth as i can especially with my budget and working part time with weird hours.. and a friend if mine who used to be goth is.. abit of a prick to me in a way saying that “casual goths aren’t goths, you’re not goth if you’re going to be casual about it, i and my ex gf went full outfits even on casual days”

Pretentious Commenters
I don't know what else to call this… I received this comment from a non-goth and they sound so confident that goth is just about slaying Romans. I've dealt with non-goths trying to correct actual goths before, but I suppose this one just irks me the most because I saw this after an annoying day at work lol
(the first 2 sentences are crossed out because of irrelevance to this post)
TL;DR, I won't respond to their comment, but it's gonna annoy me for a bit lol

A lot of Modern Goth bands sound all similar
This is not a complaint, I just wanted to post this to see if someone else also thinks the same. I feel like a lot of modern Goth Rock/Post-Punk/Darkwave bands sound the same. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the new bands, but there are a lot that replicate a sound and don't have their own personality in their music. A lot of the new bands just use reverb and delay in their guitar, play a bass line inspired by Peter Hook and the singer sings with a deep and emotionless voice. They all try to sound like Joy Division or Molchat Doma, but never actually sound as good as them and it just ends up sounding a bit repetitive. Because of this I almost always find myself looking for underground records of the 80s, because I feel the music was more varied and had more emotion or more creativity. Again, just want to make clear, that I don't think ALL of the modern bands do this and sound all the same.

how to act at a goth dance party?
sorry if this is dumb. I'm going to a goth (/new wave/industrial, but mostly goth) dance party at a club this weekend. I'm extremely new to goth music and I've never been to anything on the goth scene before, and I've only ever been to a club at all once or twice. does anyone have any advice or tips? i don't really know the etiquette for this scene and I'm excited but also, really nervous. thanks in advance
