i love you all & the subculture

i've been exploring a lot of bands ranging from the 80's to modern day artists, from postpunk to darkwave & deathrock, perhaps a lil tinge of synthpop & new wave for the past 2 years — each in their own respect: absolutely beautiful. the overall identity & aesthetics of being goth is just such a pleasure to indulge in.

the darker things in life i feel are not for everyone of course, but the sounds (basslines, synths, tempos), lyrical content, attire & themes are just so nice. i've always felt on the outlier of social circles growing up, & as a metalhead when i was young along with my expanding knowledge of this community i have felt at home within such more so than any other communities. you are all so welcoming & kind. ♡♡

i just wanted to express my love & appreciation for such a beautiful way of life/subculture, you all are magnificent & fuck anybody who says you're too old, too weird, that you shouldn't do this or that, etc; we make our own paths in life & nobody else has a goddamn say in our expressions.

Does anyone else love everything Goth but doesn’t care to dress up?

I've considered a lot of aspects of my personality to be in the niche, macabre and creepy side of things. Goth and Post- Punk rule music playlists. I'm obsessed with horror. Does a goth have to dress goth to be goth? I don't think so. What do y'all think?

I love goth music but I have no idea what any of the lyrics are meaning.

My #1 song of all time, the song I've listened to more than any other, the song that will even be featured on my funeral playlist is Dark Entries. Yet, I only understand about 30% of what he's saying. The rest is just inaudible to me. Even following along to the lyrics, it just looks like a series of words but no interpretation is understood in my head. In English class, I always struggled the hardest with poetry. It's like scripture, it's words I know but I have no idea what any of it is supposed to mean as a whole. Is there a way I can help improve that trait? Plus, it would be great to understand the pain and misery Ian Curtis was actually feeling instead of just letting the music itself setting the mood

I fucking love Scary Bitches

I just started checking out their discography today. Before that I only really listened to Bad hair day.

When I listen to their music I can only think of a grumpy goth grandma who's still salty about life and is telling her grandkids about her life when she was their age AND I LOVE THAT SO MUCH!! Maybe especially so because I lost my maternal grandmother when I was very young ( like 7) and back then I couldn't comprehend death. I didn't know she was gone for good.

But Scary Bitches just makes me feel like a kid again, listening to goth granny regale me with tales from her life. I also find them so funny lmao especially Pissing on your grave. Like I actually laughed while listening to that song!

I LOVE SCARY BITCHES WHERE ARE MY SB FANS???

Goth bands you love with female singers?

Hey all, I was going through my goth playlist and realized I have maybe 4 bands with female singers. Looking for suggestions on some goth bands with female singers!
