Does anyone else love everything Goth but doesn’t care to dress up?

I've considered a lot of aspects of my personality to be in the niche, macabre and creepy side of things. Goth and Post- Punk rule music playlists. I'm obsessed with horror. Does a goth have to dress goth to be goth? I don't think so. What do y'all think?

Dress for black tie event

Hi, I got upcoming black tie event from work I have to attend and I was hoping if anyone would be happy to share their opinion on following two dresses from Disturbia or alternative? I don’t want to stand out, but also I don’t feel like spending money on vanilla dress I won’t care to wear again.

Why are people so judgy towards goths that can’t dress goth all the time?

This is just something I've noticed about the goth community on Instagram is the amount of hate hurled at people (mainly girls) who can't dress goth all the time/don't have an entirely black closet for being "fakers." Lots of comments will say something about how they're just looking for attention or not really goth because they don't wear trad makeup 24/7 or have a corporate job requiring them to dress more "normal" by societal standards. I just don't understand it? I feel like every goth must know that dealing with constant judgement and job constraints is difficult. Plus it's a music based subculture? It's mainly men I've noticed with this behavior. Idk it's just discouraging as someone new to the subculture (been in it about a year) because I have a very limited wardrobe due to trying to not spend too much money (I'm a broke college student) and avoid fast fashion while ALSO having a very strict religious family.

I love being a goth thats doesn’t dress up

Hey, y'all who are feeling insecure about loving music and not dressing up, cheer up my friend! Most people here love you and excepts you! I LOVE the music but I don't really feel like dresses stereotypical or anything. I love this because I can wear professional business type pink colored clothes and pull out shit like "Sex and Drugs and Jesus Christ" by Christian Death. I love being able to give people a bit of surprise! Am I strange for this? I don't really care.

I don’t dress goth but I listen to gothic music

Hi lol. This is just a random post but I find this to be kind of funny.

I love gothic things soo much. Literature, art, music fashion, architecture, are just a few things that I like. I love to paint gothic things. I painted a portrait of Siouxsie Sioux using water colors. And last year when I graduated middle school, my dad bought me tickets for him and I to go see The Cure. It was so much fun! For my birthday he also bought me their greatest hits album on vinyl. But something interesting is that I don’t really dress gothic. Occasionally, I will. But for the most part I don’t. I don’t think even some of my friends know that I listen to goth music 😂. I just find it funny

Would you consider someone who listens to goth music, but doesn’t dress the part, goth?

I've been thinking about this for a while, as "listening to the music" always seems to be the criteria when people ask if someone is goth. A lot of people who dress quite goth get called posers or something like it because they don't listen to any goth bands, but don't the clothes have at least some say in the matter?
