I love being a goth thats doesn’t dress up

Hey, y'all who are feeling insecure about loving music and not dressing up, cheer up my friend! Most people here love you and excepts you! I LOVE the music but I don't really feel like dresses stereotypical or anything. I love this because I can wear professional business type pink colored clothes and pull out shit like "Sex and Drugs and Jesus Christ" by Christian Death. I love being able to give people a bit of surprise! Am I strange for this? I don't really care.

my mother doesn’t like me because I wear goth clothes.

Everytime that I put a goth t-shirt or sweater my mom makes comments about how I'm weird/should stop wearing that "garbage". What should I do?

Would you consider someone who listens to goth music, but doesn’t dress the part, goth?

I've been thinking about this for a while, as "listening to the music" always seems to be the criteria when people ask if someone is goth. A lot of people who dress quite goth get called posers or something like it because they don't listen to any goth bands, but don't the clothes have at least some say in the matter?

My bf doesn’t really want me to go goth..

Okay so… I’ve been into alternative music for about 6 years (emo, metal, screamo), and always was interested in alternative fashion but shied away from it because of my parents/fear of not fitting in. Well I’m now moved out and beginning to develop my own style and have been trying to build up a more goth wardrobe as I love the style, music, and literature, and have fell in love with all those things in the last few months. Well, my boyfriend was super supportive and encouraged me to experiment with makeup, but now that I’ve began shopping for more gothic clothes, I can tell he doesn’t love it. He’s never liked trad goth makeup (I do). Today he kind of revealed that he’s not sure how much he actually likes goth style. I think he just thought I was going to be like a stereotype of a goth girl, like overly sexual and more of an E-girl type style (not that anything is wrong with that but it’s not my style). I don’t know how to feel. On one hand, I want him to find me attractive but at the same time, this style makes me feel confident and sexy and like I’m actually expressing myself. I really love him and he’s super supportive so I know he wouldn’t try to control how I dress but I really don’t want him to be less attracted to me now. Does anyone have any advice?

I had to do a double take. Just got my ticket when I realized I wasn’t imaging this. Skeletal Family, Nox Novacula in Seattle on November 21, 2023. Fun House. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Would you date a goth who doesn’t dress the part?

Basically, although I'm really into goth music and other dark genres (I listen to a lot of metal too for example), it's basically impossible to tell just by looking at me. I only wear pink Lolita stuff and I own maybe one or two gothy outfits which I'm always reluctant to wear unless I'm actually going to a concert. Even the vinyl turntable I use to listen to SoM is pink :')

And some metalheads or goths have called me a poser or thought I was messing with them when I told them what kind of music I listen to. So I'm getting a bit self conscious, especially when it comes to dating. If you're a goth who dresses the part, would you feel ridiculous being seen outside with me?
