Teen Gothic

What’s up everyone I’m somewhat new to the goth community. I need more bands to listen to like

Sanguis et cinis: preferably like their album Wie der unberurte Traum Jungfrau even though I can’t really understand what they’re saying.

Elysium: not the metal band. look up Soledad by them and you’ll see what I’m talking about

Lycia: specifically their album Ionia. I like it because of how processed and dark it sounds and maybe I might find another band like this album.

You know that kinda semi low fi, not too heavy it'll annoy the cashier, or customers parents type music

But dark enough to be spoopy enough

Anyone else got any other band examples of Goth Shop Music? XD

Especially with songs like Gutter Glitter/Wicked/Waiting Room. Their music has this eerie dream-like quality to it the more I listen to them. There also seems to be themes of hell/purgatory and dreams which are my absolute favorite.

I remember I had a really intense nightmare so, I put on my favorite songs playlist to calm me down and one of their songs, I think it was Gutter Glitter?, and it genuinely freaked me out more, which has never happened before. They’re one of my all time favorite bands and I love this about them.

I know a lot of goth music is spooooky but they just feel different to me. The only other songs I can think of are a couple of Diva Destruction songs.

Does anyone else feel this way? Also are there any other bands/songs like this?

Like for actual babies. I have self appointed myself as my niece’s fairy gothmother. I have shared some of my more age appropriate favorites with her but wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations.

I’ve had MANY people ask me “what type of music is considered goth” I always explain it to them of course because I don’t want to be a mean weirdo. But I find it odd. It would be like if someone asked “what type of music is rap? Or punk?” Like… punk music, punk music is punk. I just think it’s strange how many people don’t know that goth is a music genre.

Hey all! I’ve been feeling a bit stagnant when it comes to finding/listening to new (to me) artists, so I was hoping for some recommendations. I’ve included a list of bands I love and some that I like, but haven’t gotten fully into to hopefully help a bit. I’m also totally open to individual song recommendations. Hopefully this wasn’t too long of a post, thanks!

Likes (For most of these bands I just need to explore the discography more, so song recs would be helpful here as well): Switchblade Symphony, Voodoo Church, Xmal Deutschland, Lebanon Hanover, Dead Can Dance

I was reading an interview with Peter Murphy from 2018 here and he had a different story about the first use of Gothic (Or actually Gothick in this case) than what Ian Astbury has said, which I thought might interest this sub.

In the interview he quotes the name of the old article, "Gothick as a brick", stating that it was the first time the term gothic was applied to music. I thought the name of the article sounded familiar, and found it in my copy of the book "bauhaus: beneath the mask". Here it is, from NME, apparently written soon after "In the Flat Field" was released in 1980. The article does seem to indicate at the very least that the genre didn't have a name at that point. It's amusing what a tasteless snob the interviewer was.

Hello, what are some modern deathrock bands I could check out.? I've listened to The Kentucky Vampires and Horror Vacui. Any suggestions?

There have been a lot of revivals and bands looking back to the classics for their sound. I was wondering if there are artists who are pushing the boundaries of the genre or trying to expand upon it.
