(I'm one of the DJs for the event, not actually part of the Fiction DC crew. Just wanted to add this little disclaimer so as to not misrepresent my connection to the event.)

I can definitely differentiate in many cases but I’m curious to how to properly differentiate it music wise because a lot of gothic rock sounds like standard post-punk and whenever I hear a post punk song I wonder if it’s gothic rock, ik lyrical themes play a big role and all but I wanna know how to properly tell the difference, I’m still learning about the subculture so I’m open to learning.

Recommendations.

What really is the difference because I hear people saying that the cure she wants revenge and joy division are all not goth and post punk but then see them in goth playlists is there a difference?

Me and my wife went to a thrift store today and I geeked out cause I saw reptile house on vinyl. I immediately picked it up to buy it. I showed it to her which she thought was super cool and crazy at what the price was for it. As we continue on we were looking at pins and she found a Bauhaus Pin which she immediately gave to me. Which meant a lot cause we both love Bauhaus and she could’ve gotten it for herself but instead she gave it to me. After checking everything out and getting ready to buy our stuff she takes my record and pin out of my hands and proceeds to buy it for me as a gift. Which made it very heartfelt and meaningful for me. I love her very much and she’s the reason why I know/love so many of these amazing goth bands that mean so much to me now. I just wanted to show everyone what we found and just make an appreciation post for her. I hope everyone else is having an amazing day.
