I need help finding some music!

Hey so I may end up having to DJ a gig tonight, it's an 80s goth/dark wave thing but I'm way more familiar with bands from the 90s..

So far I've got *Clan of Xymox *Fields of The Nephilim *Skeletal Family *Specimen *Sex Gang Children *Play Dead *Xmal Deutschland *Red Lorry Yellow Lorry *The Bolshoi *45 Grave *Christian Death *Bauhaus *and Siouxsie

This is super last min as the other DJs got covid and I'm not super qualified so I'm hoping they're lenient and let me use albums from 90-93 at least lol Any suggestions are helpful! What would you want to hear at a gig?

am i a baby bat? i need some help.

of course i understand that listening to music is a huge aspect of goth culture, and i do listen to goth music every now and then, such as tsom, bauhaus, etc. i also do know that you can enjoy other music while still being part of the goth culture. however, i don’t know what to call myself? i also like music from many other subcultures including visual kei, and metal, and some punk occasionally. clothing wise, i dress in (what my punk boyfriend) says is a casual punk style. i’m just having a hard time finding what to refer to myself as. any help is appreciated, thank you. 🖤

what do I need to not be a poseur/mall goth?

I'm currently not goth, but I'm interested in the goth subculture and fashion, and I don't know where to start without being labeled poseur or something along those lines. What do I need to do to be a real goth?

I don’t know if this is allowed but I need some support from you, my people.

I've always been tall and thin and I honestly hate my body. I have a precious little boy who I absolutely adore, he'll be 2 on the 25th. He's definitely a baby bat as well. He baby dances to Peter Murphy, Sisters of Mercy and The Mission. However, since his birth, I've struggled with it even more. I feel like a caricature of a person.

I used to dress goth and I still have the clothes and makeup but don't do it anymore, mostly due to time constraints. I see my friends, socially distanced of course and they still dress up. It's made me feel like I've lost a huge part of who I am.

It's like I want to dress up but can't find the motivation either. I'm honestly kind of depressed about it and it feels like a vicious cycle. I'm also tired of being told I'm lucky I'm thin. I've struggled to gain and maintain weight my entire life.

Anyway, maybe I'm being petty but it's how I feel. I just need someone to listen and thanks for making it this far. Could you guys maybe give me tips on how to slowly incorporate it back in or should I just go nuclear and dress up? Thanks. 🖤

Edit: I guess I'm also a little scared of scaring my son because he's never seen me like that. I know deep down he'll be fine because all he'll see is mommy but I just don't want to shock him I guess.

I need some support

(Sorry for my popo english)

I'm the only goth at my highschool and even if I have friends that like my style, it feels lonely. My parents and classmates always say slurs at me when I wear what I like.

Today I've spend six hours on my makeup, REALLY felt proud of myself, but when I showed my friends they laughed at me.

How do I deal with this?

I've tried to stop caring bout their opinions, but I would love to be called pretty and not a weirdo.

Need music recommendations!

To start, hey guys I’m 30/F/Black and you can of course deduct that it wasn’t “cool” for me to have my music interests when I was younger. I first heard SOAD and then went down a rabbit hole to find great music but I don’t have enough goth knowledge to know good goth artists. I’d love some recommendations. To give you an idea of my tastes, here’s a few songs I like:

Final Service – Ritual Howls The Offering – Sleep Token Follow Your Ghost – Periphery Kalt – kælan Mikla Gallowdance – Lebanon Hanover The Catacombs – Shadow of Intent

I know a lot of those aren’t goth, which is why I need your help! Haha

Thanks in advance, you lovely people.

Need help finding sources for an essay.

My school is making us participate in National History Day, so I'm making an essay on Goth subculture in the 1980s-90s and how we were treated by the rest of society during this period. I need 16 sources, 10 primary and 6 secondary, I'm having a rough time finding primary sources from this period. Anything will help, videos, journals, newspaper articles, etc… Thanks!

Gothic album hunt. Need help!

I'm trying to track down a album title I used to own. I can't remember the band name or any song title.
All I have to go on is that it was a couple a man and a woman. On the album cover he was in all black and she was in a Victorian style red dress. I believe it was a foreign album as it was not in English.
The best way I can describe the music style is romantic goth.

Any help is appreciated, thank you. I miss this music.
