What was it like be goth in the early 2000ā€™s?

Im very curious what it was like to be goth in the early 2000ā€™s were you bullied/ made fun of more then now? Have you noticed a change in how people treat you then vs now? Iā€™m genuinely curious what it was like in that era. If anyone was goth in that era or before let me know your experience!

Non-goth songs covered in a goth way?

Hello! So I'm quite fond of the concept of non-goth songs covered by goths, remade in goth spirit, in a goth way etc. kinda thing. I'm not certain of many, but for example:

  • Rasputin – Disjecta Membra
  • Walking In Light – Disjecta Membra
  • I Wanna Be Your Dog – Mephisto Waltz

Anyone know of anything else in a similar vein? Oh, and while we're at it, it is in my best recommendations that you listen to Disjecta Membra because the NZ goth scene deserves more love.

What misconceptions about the goth community would you like to see discussed more often?

Hello. I'm doing an assignment for school about misconceptions or stereotypes about the goth community and how they affect us as a community. I would like to see what misconceptions you would all like to see be discussed more often or are harmful, but others may not see it as such. Also, I might use your responses in my essay and I'm happy to post it here after I've completed it. šŸ™‚ Obvi I will credit and mention those who's points I may use in the essay. šŸ™‚

Edit: Also how do you all think these misconceptions impact us as a community? Thank you to everyone who responded to my post! I will be asking those who made a particularly detailed point to use their comments in my essay. Thank you!
