Teen Gothic

I pose and inquire this question from a relative outsider’s perspective, nonetheless I’ve retained in a interest and appreciation for gothic art, aesthetics, music etc.

Specifically the groove the bass has in it. It has a kind of ska feel to it. Actually mistook them for the Specials the first time I heard it until Daniel started singing.

I've only listened to (and liked) The Birthday Massacre, Molchat Doma, Bela Lugosi's Dead, Samhain, and I'm not sure if these last two count, but I also like HIM and Aurelio Voltaire. I really enjoyed all of these, although I've tried checking out deathrock and hated everything I've heard, so I guess I'll take the more post-punk/pop inspired sides of goth music. Also, I already know where to start with The Cure, but I'd love to know where to start with Nick Cave, cause I've heard he's good but never heard he was goth outside of this community. Feel free to recommend super well-known recs and obscure ones too!

TL;DR- Give me anything but deathrock.

I could post this on r/lastfm but since it’s pretty much only goth music i felt like this sub may fit better

The record itself is a beautiful purple, I love it so darn much.

i know i have some random songs on here lol, just thought they fit the vibe. anyways, i mostly listen to 80s rock and new wave, goth is a music subgenre i’ve been getting into for about six months now. im not looking for recs from super obscure bands btw, mostly more well known stuff!

Im dying to see some live music it’s been dead in my area as the year closes and would love to start making a list of bands to see! Any concerts you all are planning on going to soon? US and Mexico answers would be best!

I’ve been delving into gothic music over the past year and have officially decided to become a goth myself, and recently I’ve been trying to get into deathrock music such as Voodoo Church and 45 Grave but that’s as far as I’ve gotten.

I was also listening to this band called “The Naked and the Dead” and quite enjoyed their music.
