Is early 80s U2 gothic?

I’ve always thought of U2 in the early 80s as a gothic band but for some reason whenever someone talks about gothic bands from that era, U2 is never mentioned. Yeah they became just a regular rock band after the 80s but back when they were starting they had lots of eerie, dark songs which to me, fitted in to what bands were classed as gothic back then (An Cat Dubh, 11 O’Clock Tick Tock, The Ocean, Another Time Another Place, Drowning Man etc.). I think it’s that people just know for the popular hits and don’t know about their early stuff. So what do you think?

Complex harmonies in goth music?

Is there any goth bands or albums that explore complex vocal harmonies? Huge fan of Beach Boys and psychedelic rock harmonies and would love to hear that stuff in post punk Also not really looking for anything too crazy just stuff beyond the normal two part lines you hear on a lot of goth songs Thanks🙏

Looking for a funeral song

I am organising the funeral of my ex husband who took his life. We are having quite a bit of life music (he used to be in a band) but I would like to have something more church like sounding that is goth or dark wave (best with orchestra or violins) but has not the morbid lyrics he liked. Something that doesn’t spook relatives or other people. I was thinking „love me to the end“ by deine lakeien. (Don’t know if that is goth considered by this sub? But he heard that and considered himself part of the subcultures) Any other ideas?

I can’t believe Luis from The Soft Moon is gone…I’ll always treasure this picture with him.

I first started listening to The Soft Moon in 2015 and I immediately was blown away by their sound. ‘Zeros’ was the first song I heard and I couldn’t get enough. Ever since then, I was hoping for the opportunity to catch them live and it wasn’t until November 2022 that I finally had the opportunity to see them. Hands down, one of the most energetic shows I’ve ever been to. Luis knew how to move a crowd. His music was incredible, I hope everyone takes the moment to listen to this band if they haven’t, we lost a great one today. 🥀
