A Goth Guide to Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota
*Unless otherwise stated, only goth/goth-adjacent subjects are listed below because otherwise this would be a tremendously long list
**If you have any things to add please comment below because I don't know many places but wanted to make one for goths in Minneapolis
***This idea was from u/gustygardens with their amazing A Goth Guide to Los Angeles
Venues, Event Hosts, and DJs
Ground Zero (fridays and saturdays from what I'm aware of)
15 SE 4th St, Minneapolis, MN 55413
This is a venue that plays industrial and hard electronic. There are also Bondage a Go Go nights. On Fridays, there are dance nights sometimes including fire and aerial acts (when Forbidden Bazaar is featured), heavy dance nights (Rapture), and retro to cosplay evenings. On Saturday there's two rooms: the main room and then the chapel. "The main room of Bondage a Go Go features a mix of industrial, hard electronic, and grinding music with immersive videos played by a rotating collection of featured DJs", and the chapel lets you "participate in bondage performance or observe from our spacious pew-style seating." There is also a twitch channel if you'd like to check out the music before-hand. The bar is cash only.
The Hook and Ladder Theater & Lounge
3010 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406
This is a new-ish venue that holds a lot of small concerts, some of them are goth. In the past couple years I have seen Vision Video, Rosegarden Funeral Party, and Then Comes Silence play there.
2528 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404
I've only been here once but it was a good time. Twin Tribes played. The venue has food (and thus, a lot of seating).
882 7th St W Suite 12, St Paul, MN 55102
Holds Darkwave nights every once in a while.
This is a group that hosts events and one I highly recommend. The DJ altar has BIPOC and LGBTQ dj's. The founders are LGBTQ and host inclusive goth dance nights. They host themed events and it is a great time. They also have a twitch channel.
Transmission (Wednesdays at Uptown VFW)
Transmission is a particular event that focuses on Post-Punk, New Wave and Indie music hosted by DJ Jake Rudh. He is a club & event DJ w First Avenue, The Current & Slicing Up Eyeballs Life. There is a twitch channel.
Record Stores
Extreme Noise (12-8 every day)
407 W Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55408
Extreme Noise is a punk/hardcore/goth record store that sells records, patches, pins, music shirts, a limited stock of leather and studded accessories (they have belts and bracelets, not sure if they have anything else). This is a place where you can find flyers for local punk/hardcore shows.
2000 S 4th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404
Electric Fetus is probably the most well-known store and has the size and merch to show it. Because of that, it has a huge selection which includes goth bands (last time I went there were multiple bauhaus albums). Not goth/goth-adjacent but has albums so that's why this is listed. There is a lot of street parking right outside the store.
721 W 26th St, Minneapolis, MN 55405
Personally, I've not been to this one but it is listed on many 'top 5 record stores in Minneapolis' rankings. It looks like there the basement there is used for developing film. This one is added because the hobby of developing film is goth-adjacent. If anyone has more info on this, comment.
*there are many other record stores, just look on google record stores in minneapolis mn and you'll find tons in the twin cities. I don't mention them because they're not particularly alternative
Local Bands (goth specifically)
Stranger Gallery
The Rope
Anothernight
Points of Interest
Other Skies Weird Fiction (only fridays, saturdays and sundays)
803 Dodd Road Saint Paul, Minnesota 55118
The store is fashioned with coffins and horror themed decor to fit the horror/sci-fi/fantasy books placed in shelves. It is a fairly small space but there are extremely rare books here so it can get very expensive, but there are also normally priced books. The owner has a passion for horror so if you're looking for a specific book, he'll likely know what you're talking about.
507 E Hennepin Ave #507B, Minneapolis, MN 55414
The store is full of bones and holds natural history and curiosities. Not a huge store, but it has quite a few nice things and is recommended.
2533 7th Ave E, North St Paul, Minnesota, 55109, United States
A shop that is half an oddities shop and half an artist workshop and gallery. A super cool shop!
Sunset Cemetery (24 hours)
2250 St Anthony Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55418
This is a huge and beautiful cemetery. 100% recommend.
3600 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis
Another large cemetery.
*similarly to what I mentioned above, there are many other graveyards but I just wanted to mention this one because it is my favorite and has gorgeous chapels, graves, and trees.
**If none of this is interesting to you, there is a facebook group called MPLS Goth Friends where you might find some local event

Bringing friends and family to goth nights
Anyone else had great success with inviting people who aren’t familiar with our music and scene? I’ve been able to successfully bring out 9 of my workmates, a lot of my friends and my entire family to these quite frequently. My favorite parts are breaking down all the misconceptions they’ve had on what Goth is and seeing them embrace it as a music based experience not some fashion show with freaks and darklings. They always leave happy to experience something new, falling in love with how lovely and welcoming the people can be and letting themselves enjoy the music and atmosphere. I say this as I’m bringing a few new blood from work to a batcave tonight and they seem excited about it based on what my other work mates have said. Anyone else have luck bringing in fresh souls into your caves?

why does no one ever talk about Castrati?
i understand that they aren’t too popular but they definitely deserve more recognition, they some of my favourite deathrock songs ever made and i’ve just never seen any discussion about them past a singular reddit comment where someone recommended them to a deadchovsky fan

First attempt at screen printed patches
Had to do a little bit of touching up but I'm pleased with it. Even with a new blade on my xacto it was still a pain 😂🥲
