My wedding dress

I found my wedding dress at a thrift store for $ 30 the other day. Is anyone familiar with the brand Eternal? I believe it's Eternal NYC but I couldn't find much information on it.

Unpopular opinion: you don’t have to dress goth to be goth.

All you need to do is to know what being goth really means, and listen to gothic music, it's always posers that say you have to dress/act a certain way to be goth.

Have any of you been called sexual slurs for the way we dress back in highschool?

I’m currently going through this in my school because the way I dress and the opened minded jokes I make. I don’t really know how to deal with it and I’m wondering if I’m the only one that is going or has gone through this.

Goths working in creative jobs ? Are you allowed to dress goth for work ?

I am an F18 girl who is at UK Uni studying computer game modelling, with future ambitions to get a job in 3D modelling in the game or animated film industry, with anything 2D/Concept Art related as a backup option, and I like to dress gothic

My style is accepted at my University and at my old college where I was studying BTEC games dev there, both of those places said 'dress professional' but only meant don't come in in your swimwear or pyjamas or offensive T shirts, however I do change something about my style for the classroom and that is that I don't wear fishnet gloves and limit myself to just 1 bracelet/ring per hand (for being practical and comfortable)

But are any of you goths (or just different styles people in general)working in creative jobs that don't involve serving other people allowed to express style in your workplace ? My mother (F55) said that jobs want you to turn your appearance down and she judged people by style when she hired them (such as telling punks to tie their dreadlocks back and take piercings out while working), bearing in mind she worked in this position in the 1980's and worked in public retail stores, also from what I hear at this time a lot people wore suits at jobs and expressing style during work was frowned upon anyway

But on the other hand today I have seen girls online doing 'get ready for me to go to an interview' and some are going full goth, and it seems the only ones who are turning their appearance down are the ones working in retail and formal office jobs (bearing in mind I only saw this on Reddit and Tik Tok)

However I can prove that my freind (M18, and M15 at the time this happened) got some school work experience at a local games company and he is a metalhead and was allowed to wear his band t shirts and have his long hair down even on the first day

What do you guys think, share your thoughts and experience ? Just want to check it before I chance it

Would you date a goth who doesn’t dress the part?

Basically, although I'm really into goth music and other dark genres (I listen to a lot of metal too for example), it's basically impossible to tell just by looking at me. I only wear pink Lolita stuff and I own maybe one or two gothy outfits which I'm always reluctant to wear unless I'm actually going to a concert. Even the vinyl turntable I use to listen to SoM is pink :')

And some metalheads or goths have called me a poser or thought I was messing with them when I told them what kind of music I listen to. So I'm getting a bit self conscious, especially when it comes to dating. If you're a goth who dresses the part, would you feel ridiculous being seen outside with me?

Can I really consider myself a goth if I don’t dress the part?

Hello there everyone, hope y’all are having a lovely day. So I would say that I’ve only realized recently that I’d think of myself as a part of this subculture (always loved gothic horror in video games, music and movies like Castlevania, black metal and what have you, but recently for the past year or so I’ve been listening to a lot of goth music to the point where it’s more than half of what I listen to,) but I feel kinda guilty for calling myself a goth because I don’t dress the part.

The thing is I live in a country where that is very frowned upon (to the point where I don’t think we even have a goth community here, and if we do they’re definitely minuscule, because I have literally never met another goth person before.)

Even the way I dress now I get a lot of funny looks from people (aka I literally just wear metal band T-shirts and I’ll still get funny looks from people.)

Like I remember I once wore black nail polish and got a lot of shit from people because apparently I looked too “gay” for them (for some reason a lot of people are very backwards and think you can look “gay” and they still think that being gay is a bad thing and is something you can use to insult people) and mainly for all this from my parents as they believe that men should have short hair, dress nicely, etc. (btw I know I sound like a teenager but I’m not that young, I just turned 20 last week and still live with my parents because of college.)

Over the past two years I’ve been really getting into the goth subculture (before this I’d say that I was more of a metal head and industrial person that had gothic tendencies haha,) but because I can’t dress the part (even though I’d love to) I’m not sure if I can still be considered a part of this sub culture.

Do let me know what you guys think yea, and apologies if this question turned into a bit of a rant.
