Teen Gothic

I just got invited to a "goth baddies assemble" group on Instagram and the contents sickened me. What I didn't show here that was also in the chat was clip art of sexual acts. All from the people you see in the screenshots. It was disgusting to see, and infuriating. The constant fetishization of the subculture pisses me off on a daily damn occurrence. I reported the chat itself and the people, but I of course doubt that IG will even do a damn thing. I felt the need, amidst my agitation lmao, to come to reddit to vent about it and use it as an opportunity for discussion on how you as individuals feel about this constant issue and what you do to prevail over this and any experiences you've had related to being sexualized and objectified without your consent, when just trying to exist and mind your business.

(And if any of yall feel the desire to seek out that scum and mass report them, that would just be sweet, sweet justice 🤭 but that's just a bonus lol)

Romanticism and sexuality seem fairly common within the goth subculture (whether of the music, band performances, conversations, fans, etc), and it can become too much and hard to avoid, like a lot of the content in mainstream media. It's somewhat alienating. It's as though indifference or adversity to such is quite rare, but curious if there are otherwise. If so, what are those thoughts on romantic and sexual matters in any aspect of the subculture?

Like everyone already knows goth women are heavily sexualised and misperceived, but ^{every single time} I look for anything goth related on Reddit, I’m just met with so much gross and vile sexual fetish content and it just reminds me all the time, it’s so hard to escape. I literally cannot stand these onlyfans airheads selfishly using the goth label to attract even more internet degenerates to make money and then make actual goths look bad. It’s so enraging since ‘goth’ has been such a big part of me for so long since I was little and means so much to me, just for egirls to snatch it and shit on it, turning me into a walking fucking kink.

Sorry for the rant, I know I made a post a bit similar to this a while ago too but UGH I just cannot deal any more.

I’m currently going through this in my school because the way I dress and the opened minded jokes I make. I don’t really know how to deal with it and I’m wondering if I’m the only one that is going or has gone through this.
