Teen Gothic

Main point: please show me some early 2000’s goth culture things like videos, music, animations, and really anything iconic from that era.

Context: I’m a baby bat. Been into goth stuff pretty much all my life cuz of my mom (who is not goth). I’d just never identified with it till a few months ago because I’d never looked into it before then. Anyway I was just wondering if there was like a big goth presence in the early 2000’s. If I’m not mistaken, I probably am, it seems to be “mall goth” I think. And I wanted to ask for any pieces of goth nostalgia from the early 2000s.

I'm somewhat new to the music and I'm just genuinly curious what makes someone goth to you, because I've heard different things at this point

I’ve recently started attending my local goth night and have made a big discovery, I’m not scared to dance in public, I just don’t like EDM! Now that I have broken away from my fear of dancing in public, I need to learn! Any recommendations or advice for learning to dance to all this beautiful goth music?

I'm most interested in thoughts from those whose taste in music, aesthetic, hobbies, social circles, identities, and/or worldviews developed within the 80s-era goth subculture. Music is the most relevant point of focus, as this subreddit emphasizes.
