Are there any goth songs with sort of an aquatic or nautical theme?

Post-punk/gothic rock covers of popular songs?
Anybody know any “goth” covers of “non-goth” songs? I really enjoyed The Leather Nuns’ take on ABBA’s “Gimme Gimme Gimme”. I’m the kinda guy to love covers on nostalgic or even cheesy songs.
Thanks!
Edit: bonus points if the original song are polar opposites to the genre of the cover.

Goth songs about mental illnesses, going mad etc
I am writing a paper on Siouxsie and I wanted to show her influence on other goth musicians – musically, lyrically and visually. I stumbled across an interview in which Steve Severin said that they always write about the darker side of human psyche, obsession, going mad and I would like to show an example that is by a different goth band (preferably from mid 80s onward) to show some similarities but can't think of anything at the moment. Any help will be appreciated.

What are some non-goth songs that would sound great if they were made into a goth cover?
Hear me out. Somebody Else by the 1975. I've been listening to it a lot recently and I feel like the lyrics and mood of the song would fit in with goth music if it were made into a goth cover.

Looking for romantic/love songs that are goth
I’m looking to expand my playlist and I prefer the ones that are about the joy of love/being in love. (Non sexual please)
(Edit: Sad or melancholic are also acceptable, as well as the ones that are more subtle sexually)
I would prefer they have a similar sound to Last Beat of My Heart by Siouxie and the Bandhees, Lovesong by The Cure
Bands/songs from any era are welcomed.
(Please don’t remove my post as I don’t see a listing for specifically romantic/love songs in the wiki)
(Edit: Also keep in mind that I’m a baby bat, I just want to learn)

Why do so many Post-Punk/Gothic songs have religious lyrics/undertones?
I've noticed in the past a lot of mentions religious deities and terms like God, Lord, and Jesus within Post-Punk and Gothic songs. A few memorable ones include;
"I know that God lives in everybody's soul and the only Devil in your world lives in the human heart" -Good Morning Beautiful by The The
"Is my creator a God or a man? (Yes, yours too)" -Monkeyland by The Chameleons
"Moving along in our God-given ways safety is sat by the fire" -Passover by Joy Division
"Jesus christ, i am bleached by the heat but i feel fine in my filthy skin" -Bleach by Lowlife
I also notice that religion symbols like the cross can be within gothic fashion as well. Aside from artistic expression, why do you think religious symbols and language are used so often in the goth and post-punk scenes?
