I’ve been pronouncing Siouxsie the wrong way

I referred to her as, "Sweezy" instead of "Soo-zee" in front of my friends and they've been making fun of me for like an hour. This fucking sucks

The Goth accent (for lack of a better term)

Ey up all,

This is something thats been on my mind for awhile and I dont think its just within the goth scene but hear me out.

I have discussed this with my friends that confirmed it and also once with a large goth youtuber (AB) during a live stream through chat.

So I want to see if any of you, perhaps more so during your youth reduced your accent to not sound like the people around you, this could be because you disliked your local dialect or for where I am from, to not sound like the local chavs.

other more out there reasons maybe influences from band members, to sound more smart, or influences for say in UK to sound like charters from movies who spoke "proper" English with a london / posh dialect, or maybe you moved and had issues being understood.

I hope this makes sense, the main point im trying to ask is, did you change your dialect due to not liking your own? because generally within the scene I have noticed most folk are quite well spoken.

Again i have spoke to a few people about this and a few certinly have confirmed it.

I am researching it for my own video for youtube.

Thank you all.

Any goth songs in different languages

Of course I've found the obvious Russian and Belarusian post-punk and a few Hispanic. But other than that none. If anyone of you come from a non-English speaking countary or just know of any gothic/post-punk/new wave bands or artists in a different language I'd love to see.

When do you “dress the part”?

When it comes to the dramatic makeup and clothing, how often do you put these on?

Is it more of a outfit for the club, or is it something you should try to wear almost 24/7?

I know some people try a more casual, less extreme appearance and wear throughout the week, or go full out during the weekend only, but is dress in our daily lives very important to the ethos or subculture of being goth?

darkseattle.net is an AMAZING resource for goth shows in Seattle.

It's updated regularly and is my main source for live shows/bands and also has goth DJ/dance night listings. Whomever this is/owns this site is frekin awesome and is doing the community a huge service.
