Teen Gothic

So I'm interested in making a darkwave solo project, and I would like to incorporate a lot of synth into it since that's such a big aspect of the genre, however I don't know very much about synths so I was wondering if anyone had some basic recommendations/guidelines as for what type of synth works best for this genre, be that software recs or suggestions for a specific model of analog or whatever.

Also if this isn't the right space to ask about this and anyone has a different sub they'd like to direct me towards feel free.

does anyone know of any goth songs that have lyrics about vampires? i'm trying to create a themed playlist and would appreciate any help

45 grave – riboflavin

selofan – billie was a vampire

paralysed age – bloodsucker

bauhaus – bela lugosi's dead

I don’t have a clear understanding of what exactly Industrial is and would really appreciate if it could be explained with some examples of industrial artists!

I also see post-punk be confused with goth. I somewhat have an understanding of the two but not sure where to draw a clear line.

Then there’s coldwave, darkwave (heavy synth?), ethereal wave, and all that fun stuff lol. I’m not too sure of the difference between all of those.

I’d like to know what exactly makes you like the culture’s music. Is it the subtle -yet protagonistic- bass of many songs? The danceable snare beats? The gloomy atmosphere? Let me know!

I've been to bar sinister a couple of times and didn't like it too much. I have heard of das bunker but can't tell if it's even open anymore. anyone have any recommendations? I'll be there for a full week so hoping at least one day will be a decent goth night.
