I “dress” goth for work why the fuck not, right? Well, I need help learning how to UNtease my hair without (what feels like) losing half of my hair! I have super super long hair (down to my butt) so it takes a LOT of teasing to do for my hair, but brushing it out and washing it hurts so much and my hands end up sore. Is there a safe way to do this? Is my hair just too long?

I see so many goths with huge, teased up, thick hair. Unfortunately I have pretty thin hair and it’s hard to find any hair style that would ever fit me because of my thin hair. Most of the time it just falls over unless I don’t have tons of dry shampoo and hair spray which results in a rough looking texture and adds up quick with the amount of product I put in my hair. Right now I have just a regular undercut that sometimes I form into a Mohawk, but I’d like something more extreme.

Anyone have any recommendations? I’m not asking for Robert Smith or Ronny Moorings hair, but something that is more alternative and eye catching than an undercut.

I’ve (22F) struggled with hair loss since I was about 12-13 due to genetics and medical conditions. It was, and still is, my biggest insecurity, but I’ve mostly learned to ignore it/work around it. However, I still have days where I feel like shit because I can’t do anything with my hair besides wear a hat or head scarf lol. And it gets really old. Especially after seeing all the beautiful and unique hairstyles of people in the goth community.

I’ve tried wigs and they’re ok until the itching becomes unbearable. I’ve also seriously contemplated just shaving my head (which I’ll have to do at some point anyway) but I’ve been dealing with breakouts and acne scarring for years so I feel insecure about exposing my whole face.

Does anyone else struggle with this or have advice/encouragement?
