Teen Gothic

So I’ve been listening to some goth music and seeing how people dance to it and it seems like a lot of fun. While I’m not goth (I dress fairly basic) I’m very into 90s alt, hardcore, and nu-metal. When I’m dancing at a party to pop or rap I feel very trapped and insecure but goth dancing seems very free flowing and fun. I also want to meet new people and stuff. Should I go and how should I dress with the limited stuff I have?

My kiddo is starting a goth club at his elementary school! I’m a lifelong goth, and I’m helping him work on playlists for the club. Any suggestions to play for kids ages 5-12? Thanks!

Hey all! Not anywhere close to my first time at a goth club but the most recent time I caught a guy (regular clothes, film looking camera) taking picture of me while I was dancing. He tried to hide his camera when I went up and asked him if he was. I cussed him out and told him it was weird to do that without asking permission. I’ve only frequented all of two goth clubs since I’ve been in this scene and wanted to ask if this is more common than I know? He wasn’t hired by the club but said he had done this before and had seen me before. Was I acting unreasonable? Thanks y’all!

So there's a club in my city that sometimes organises goth rock music nights (it's not exclusively a goth club). There's an event coming up soon that I'd like to go but I have no one to go with, I've been to lives and concerts alone and I don't mind that BUT is it weird and awkward to go to a club on your own? (I'm female btw). I want to go but I have a feeling I'll feel like a fish out of water being an introverted goth alone at a club…

Edit: Thanks everyone for your responses! 🖤 It's going to be a Maske Party as well because it's the time of the carnival where I'm from so that might make it easier to attend alone! And I guess having a beer or a glass of wine before attending might calm my anxiety… As for safety concerns, I've been to this club many times for concerts (both alone and with friends) and never had any issues, I just haven't tried clubbing alone and I guess everything new is scary at first 🦇

One of my favorite ways to express my creativity within the subculture is by making these MVs using my favorite songs at the time and putting them to footage of me exploring the darker corners of the world. These places are often bat caves in different cities to delve into local scenes, concerts, and record stores, old cemeteries, alternative fashion boutiques and markets, macabre attractions, and places filled with dark history. I learned to DJ last year & have had a couple of gigs here & there. I’m interested in doing a club night anywhere in Cali. & would like some advice & suggestions. I grew up listening to bands like Big Electric Cat, The Veil, Witching Hour, and Rosetta Stone to name a few and would love to spin the music I grew up listening to. I’m open to advice from DJs, promoters and club attendees 🖤 My biggest concern is partnering up with the wrong ppl that are hyperfocused in lots of drama :/

i’ve been a metal head since the early 2010’s and have also enjoyed my fair share of goth music and culture, mostly being due to my mom being goth in the 70’s and 80’s and my dad being a metal head to this day i’ve always kind of been more towards these subcultures due to my parents and was wondering if that would make it chill for me to show up to a goth club.

And it was absolutely amazing!!! I've ment to go for like a year but always been to socially anxious to go out but this time I was like fuck it lets go. It's an event that happens like once a 3 months in the city and I went alone which was terrifying but when I was there it was so absolutely amazing hearing the music you listen to on your own actually being played in a club.

Everyone was dressed so amazing and there was so much diversity and different generations. And seing so much people Dance and dancing myself was a blast. It made me really happy to be once among other goth folk and especially seing the scene still being alive!!!!! For anyone who ever wanne do the same just honestly do the scary thing and go, even if it's alone. Cause when you visit and you hear the amazing music you can just Dance and have such a beautiful time. (And found out I love dancing haha)

Also for anyone curious this was Sanctuary in Sydney (Lebanon Hanover is ganne play here in a vew months, im so pumped)
