Hey all I play in a punk/deathrock band called Academy Order. y’all seemed into the first new single so I figured I’d let you know we just released our promo tape yesterday via Deathwish & Protagonist. Got an east coast tour planned for the spring, hope you call can make it if we’re in your area🖤

Does anyone here play bass? What are some of the most beginner-friendly goth songs for a newbie to practice?

I'll be getting my first bass very soon! I love goth music but as a brand new bassist I have no idea what is going to be good to start with vs something to work my way up to. If you play, I'd love some reccomendations for easier songs to work on plus any other tips you'd like to share

What goth song do you wish tha DJs at your local night would play?

What is something that you crave to hit the dance floor during, but for some reason your local night doesn't play out?

What songs would you play to “convert” someone?

I know that "convert" isn't the word I'm looking for here, but I couldn't think of a more succinct way to put it! I'm trying to compile some songs together that might get some of my friends hooked on the genre as much as I am; I have shown them some Pink Turns Blue because I'll be seeing them in September (so, so, so excited…!) and they liked them, but I was wondering if anyone had any more songs that they had used to get someone hooked on gothic rock.

I know that other people are (ugh!) independently-thinking human beings who might not like the same things that might have changed my life, but I want to at least give it a shot!

So, do you have any songs or albums that you've played for people and had success in getting them hooked on the genre, or what do you think could? I'm thinking the classics are an obvious choice (especially Siouxsie is very popular even with those who have never heard of goth rock), but am incredibly partial to smaller bands myself, and those were the bands that really made me addicted to the sound and sought more of the genre.

I hope this post is alright! I'm just brainstorming songs and playlists right now, and am curious about this in general.

Are you a musician? Do you play goth music?

Just curious how many of you out there are musicians and what type of music you play.

Edit: Feel free to elaborate in the comments if you play goth music.
